Soooooo

I have a list of cars that I'd quite like to own. And I should be able to buy one of in the next job iteration. Budget is £35k totally top. £30k is what I can get past the expenses committee but there are ways.....

Currently short list:

DB9 V12
Bentley GT Speed
Granturismo MC shift (worried that if I bought one of these, I'd never buy any of the others)

Two questions:
Why would I not add an R8 (other than it's an Audi)

What else might I look at? No 911s please. Had one as a loaner. Hated it.

You have very similar taste to me. No intention of getting rid of the GT but when I look it’s at Astons and Bentleys

QPV Sport GT S... like the one Dicky had up for sale recently, but sold in about a week. That was up for £32k or so IIRC, and legend has it that he'll have another one for sale soon... practical - tick, exciting - tick, exotic marque - tick, mental noise - big tick. Tick tick tock :D

I was more hoping for 2 doors. There are definitely circumstances where a QP would be a consideration. Or a new Ghibli. Hopefully something a little more stand out....

The reason I don't go and buy an MC is simply because I want to scratch other itches before I come back in the fold. By the time I've done them, I might even be able to afford a Strad.....

Best car I have ever owned but they aren't cheap these days.....You need 50k plus these days for a good one

The CSL was one of the ones that got away for me. While I was going through my BMW phase I nearly bought one. Wish I had!

Buy a Bentley, keep it for a month, hope it doesn’t break down and then chop it for what you should have bought anyway. Simples ;)

I think we should start a charity page , sponsor him to live stream trying to get into totally unsuitable cars , lotus Elise is a good one to start with

I think this has legs. But there must be two Cat(egories). 1. Unsuitable due to size and 2. Unsuitable due to other reasons.

The Bentleys are amazing value, you wonder about running costs but then the GT is right up there in those stakes.

Saw a brand new continental GT 2 weeks ago on the road, was a kind of pastel light blue colour and it looked stunning, that’s a new one so top dollar but the older ones are still gorgeous liking things.

I also check strad prices lol. But I need the 4 seats for the boys so would have to get the 4 seat version but the seats are much nicer in the 2 seat version

I'd want a 4 seat as well. Just for those very rare times....

I always wanted an Aston and always felt a V8 Vantage would be a stepping stone for me to a V12 variant at some point. I spent much time deciding if a 4.3 would be enough and thinking a 4.7 would be better.

Now that I've had a V8 Vantage for a year and I can happily say I had no issues with it being a V8 or a 4.3. In fact I think it is the sweetest spot. I am sure I will buy another Vantage at some point. I would happily have a 4.3 V8 Manual with Bamford Rose headers and sports cats. I couldn't fault it. I also prefer the preface lift interiors on the Vantage.

For me an R8 V8 would also be on the cards. Circa 400nhp is plenty IMHO and 60mpb in 5 secs is also plenty fast enough for me.

I'd like to look at an Evora at some point as they intrigue me.

How about an F Type? It is on my radar at some point when prices soften a bit more to my typical budget level.

hand grenade time. Get the best sorted 3200 Assetto Corsa to tick all of the boxes (and a CL500/600 for the rainy days).

Cheers.

Not sure about F-types in honesty. Not sure they feel special enough. Daft I know

I know exactly what you mean. I think they are a cracking looking car and drive really well. However to me are a typical modern car with modern problems for me. They tend to want to be a daily and sports car into one so comprise heavily.

I can see why as most people can only have one car to meet both these needs. I'd rather have two that do each job better with less compromises.
