Good work all round boys...keep it up.

Dancing is really good. I'm often the last up still standing if ending up in a club. I'll just get on the floor and go bonkers for hours. Often have massive calf pains the next morning which proves what I did the night before!

Definitely headphone needed Adam as Tacx Flux is a bit noisy when I my. Using laptop speakers! Must get my sound sorted soon.

Check your gears are indexed. Loads of YouTube vids on how to do it if you don’t know, should be relatively quiet

Well that's one 'weigh' to lose the pounds...

I'm sorry but what's so fricking special about it...I'm an engineer and I like technology but sometimes I think people overthink or over analyse things (analysis paralysis!)
Like paying over the odds for a superlight training pushbike... You’re training, get a cheapy that makes you work harder and therefore exercise harder, save the money for a holiday in your new found beach body...

I thought about not posting the link to the scales, as I recognise they are ridiculously expensive... however, they appealed to me and my love of a gadget.... and I will also save more than £400 by not drinking in January.

Each to their own, YMMV, etc...

Hey, your money. I'd love some but can't really justify that :) You crack on!

I have spent the afternoon with the woman and children (we live in separate houses) and I can honestly say this is the most I have craved a drink so far!!

She's also tried to get me to eat cheese, cake, pasta, and chocolate. Good job the support is on here!! FFS

Anyway, carry on, rant over

My children have introduced me to Pokémon go. It only works when you are out moving and the further you walk the more you get. I thought I would hate it, but there is now a seriously competitive streak running through the family and we are all definitely doing more trying to 'level up'. I know this won't suit everyone, but is free and a good motivator if anyone else fancies joining me.

Try to keep the strokes under 2m/500 on a 1000m row to start or even 500m and then learn that exact cadence needed. I always aimed to keep sub 2min/500m strokes even when doing 4k rows. It will come for sure.. What resistance are you on? I used between 5 and 7 as a rule. I think 7 is water....
Resistance vs. number depends on the condition of the machine. You need to use the drag factor and for water you should set it between 115 and 125. On a well maintained machine that'll be a resistance number around 3 and a bit. The machine I was on earlier this evening needed to be on 7 for a 115 drag.
To find the drag, can you let me low which model computer you have on it?

Stroke rate is very important to stamina when rowing. If you're sprinting, then over 30 spm yes absolutely. Racing is usually between 34 and 42.
I just did a 10 min warm up on the concept 2 before a heavy and long weights session (seriously pleased with myself upping the weights and adding an extra circuit) so rowed at "steady state". For me that's 20 spm at around 2:10 pace.

Adam, I have a feeling you may be going at a blow out pace on the stroke rate. I can help.

I feel your pain Dan. I know the feeling. Keep strong and do your thing regardless what others think.

Maybe doing some here an injustice but I doubt most will have the body strength to maintain anything near racing rates. As you say better to focus on a moderate rate & distance. Also proper technique. You suggested earlier for those rowing to post a video of their action - good idea. Alternatively, could also compare to Concept's training videos. They used to offer a cassette tape (that's how long ago I bought mine) but probably will be on their website or perhaps YouTube.

Right, I'm off for some cheese, cake, pasta, and chocolate. That's sounds good ;)

Edit: as above - you beat me to it!

I have also just had an ice-cream - dunked in a shot of espresso.... Affogato deliciousness!

All this talk of rowing is making me think I might get back on my rower tomorrow... may do a 30min r20 session

Well nothing off yesterday as the family photo shoot had party food and I must admit to grazing somewhat! Back on it today.

Sunday morning weigh-in

January 1st - 14st 5lb

January 6th - 14st 1lb

This is through zero alcohol, continued exercise levels, and eliminated snacks/ chocolates/sweets between meals and just before bedtime. I haven’t really changed what I’m eating at meals, and am not going to do so unless I stop losing weight. Realistic target is 2lbs a week on average, and stretch target is 13st 7lb by end of January....

Well done John, we started at very similar weights so “the race is on”

My next weigh in is tomorrow after boxing and I am hoping for a 90.x kg. (I’ll take x = .99)

Had a packet of crisps in the pub last night (1 Italian zero beer...it was fecking aweful and a spicy tomato juice which was lovely) but I had spent all day knocking a wall down which was knackering.

Keep up the good work all!
