Wet Driver Carpet Footwell

not sure if an issue but been told that the door window seals leak and flow down the side to the footwell. you could apply a cream on the seal and see if the leak stops

one other option is a smoke machine which you cam hire, fill the car with smoke and see if you cam see where this escapes but this would detect a capillary leak

hope you get this sorted soon

Hmm, are either of you coming to the **** o the north meet? We could make a start there :)

Unfortunately I can't be there, but would like to arrange something for a dry day sometime. I'm not taking the car out in the rain till I know how it's getting so wet. I mean proper wet, like 1/2 inch deep water! Maybe in the new year sometime...

1/2" ? That's bad!

I'd reckon that's a door seal.

Wow, mine is not near as bad.

Catman, yes I should be there on 29th. But depends on weather if I bring the car. Hopefully, the bad storms are gone.

Yeah, I had a puddle, no exaggeration ;-) I could have worse problems though... I have a struggle thinking a door seal, as it hasn't leaked visibly as I've been using the car... And the amount of water is such that it feels like it's coming in from somewhere not obvious. Noticed now that the wheel well in the boot is wet at the bottom too, but I'm hoping that's the result of condensation from the puddle in the back passenger compartment as the Maserati tool kit in the wheel well is not rusty at all, just wet (was anyway, it's been dried out now and is being loved indoors).
Looking through the history, it's had bodywork done on that side, so now I think maybe a drain hole somewhere is blocked... But where?!? Wish it was obvious...

First principles, Ian.

If the boot is leak is wet, I'd look at fixing that as a separate leak.

I only have one car :) I'll lob some bits in the back if there's some decentish weather.

Hi
I had a similar problem with a lot of water in the driving side footwell it was the tube that is connected to the condenser underneath the dash it was not connected
It can be refitted without removing the dash it looks impossible but there is a trick I know I did it myself

Hi Mick

When did this result in the footwell getting wet? Was it only when the car was running, or also when switched off and stationary in the rain?

If you could give me any further details, that would be great.

Thanks

It was when the car was running, instead of the water draining away from the ac unit down the pipe to outside of the car, instead it was running down the gearbox tunnel to the drivers footwell

It's the drain from the fan box. It'll piddle water everywhere in the rain. Stops the pollen filter from getting soggy.

mine was not connected to the condenser

There is only one pipe that I know of that goes to the outside of the car, at least behind the centre panels. Can you describe the way it fits to the tunnel? Triangular grommet, perhaps?

Its the pipe that run from the bottom of the aircon unit an inch above the gearbox tunnel ( this was the section that was not connected on mine ) and runs down
to the exit near the clutch pedal, when the aircon is running as well as cooling the air it removes moisture from the cabin and exits down this pipe work

As mine gets wet when the car is stationary, I don't think it's the same problem I have. But I will definitely check it.
Thanks
