Well done Cat, that means I have to do mine now.

By the way, did you not buy the brackets, I would as they are only £8 front and £6 rear.

They do snap too, so I would get them.

Item 9 (front £8) and 10 (rear £6)

Oh, when they arrive, can you do some investigation and give us any numbers that appear on them or a manufacturers stamp, never know, we might be able to save a few quid.

****, it's too late. The tie-rod order is already done and dusted. And they are special order parts, so it'll we well into 2013 before I get it.

I would be slightly surprised if (for example) the model aircraft world couldn't supply a similar tie rod assembly. OTOH I doubt there's much to be saved at £12 a pop.

Is it worth doing a pictorial? Seemed all pretty much self evident when I got the wheel off.

£12! Is that for the complete assembly, thought they were £70 each, do tell?

Yes indeed. Tie rod alone. I know my front sensor works. I have no reason to suspect the rear one....

Ok the rear one is fine and so it the front one with the exception that there are no screws holding the sensor to the bracket so its just at full extension.

It's pi55ing it down at the moment so ill bung some bolts or worst case cable ties later.

Cheers for your help guys.

Cable ties and gaffer tape. Is there *anything* they cannot fix. :)

Glad to be of service.

Oh bu99er its turned into one of those jobs!

Attempted to take it all out, the sensor is bust, well it works but the casing has sheeted off bolts. The bracket is stuffed too and the bolts sheeted if in the subframe!!!!

The pushrod is ok but I am just going to buy the lot.

On the plus side I have cable tied and tapped it in a poition where the headlights are about right so atleast I can drive it without blinding people.

Law of sod :( Best of luck with it.

I assume the rods simply come free with the nut at the back of the ball joint?

They do Cat. The one that attached to the sensor was rock solid the bottom one came off once a liberal application of WD 40 was introduced.

God knows how I am going to get the sheered bolts out, ill have to drill them but I recon the strut has to come out to get to the rear one. Might use rivnuts instead. Basically it's going to be a right sod!

New tie rod installed. Long live power tools. I had to dremel the nuts off to remove what was left of the old one.

Should be utterly fine now :)

Thanks all

Well done Cat, my bits turn up next week, plenum off to find an oil leak, new oil sender, then I have to drop the front strut to to drill out the remnants if the xenon bracket, fit new sensor, brackets and pushrod. Have a brake pedal sensor error too, lots of little jobs to do, I think the car was a little unloved.

Oh new fan resistor and cubby box catch too.

Stainless wheel nuts turn up tomorrow, thanks Sprogs.

So the spending has begun. With that little lot finished, I should be half way through my list.

Yah. I think mine was a tad un-loved as well. Not un-expected given the nature of the 'full' service history.

Still, nothing major so far on my list. Hopefully the front leak is resolved. The book will take some effort, but hardly onerous.
Need to sort my low speed fan at some point. I think I can see the resistor, but will need to have some thought as to how to get there.
Need to replace the RH engine grill as Eurosares call it. Only £28, so that's fine.

Is there a spare set of wheel nuts for use while rusted ones are sent off for re-chroming at all?

Cheers
