I empathise. Once upon a time I painstakingly painted a lion in the 2nd year.the art skills of a artless chimpanzee...

The wine doesn’t look too bad too.The cork looks in great condition. Santé.
I’ve never consumed wine anywhere near that price tag before and am struggling to grasp the concept of just how good it tastes. Thanks for the generous offers of help - the wine was delicious, and as good as I remembered it being. Luckily I have a few more stashed away, and I’m 50 in just under 2 years, so I reckon it will keep.
Have to admit that drinking it made me and the wife a little teary, and brought back memories of my father in law. He was a great wine buff, and if he were still alive and was with me last night, we would probably have needed to open another bottle!

Wattie - it’s not as different as you might think.
I probably don’t have a developed enough palate to be able to really tell the differences, but would describe this as silky smooth and layered, hardly any tannins left, gorgeous deep purple colour, really nice mouthfeel, and a lovely long finish.
I could never justify buying it, but having inherited it, it’s nice to taste and to experience...
P.s. I’m also a Vivino fan
Certainly is.A lovely inheritance!
Let’s be honest 99.9% of people couldn’t pull a Rothschild or any other highly expensive wine out of a blind line up..
