A man of my own heart. I ended up the head auctioneer of Christie’s Wine & Cigar department, having worked there for 20 years. Hence building my own wine room and cigar room. Of course, classy cars just go along with my beliefs.. :alan2:
Amazing. Are you still involved, or now a purchaser like the rest of us?

Be keen to hear any insights you might have.

Both new names to me.
The Ribera del Duero is Portuguese... best thing about Portuguese wine is that it's almost all really good indeed and I get mixed cases shipped over at pretty much the price you'd pay there. Including a couple of bottles of easy quaffing port and some good plonks of all colours, still and sparkling, and all for less than £100. If you just want the plonk then don't pay more than €5 a bottle and your tastebuds will be happy.

The Coteaux du Layon is a sweet white from an area not far to the west of saumur. €3.50 a bottle from the vineyard!

I’m still involved but just trading/broking old or rare stuff to private clients mostly.

I heard a brilliant story about cigars a while back.
You’ll probably know it.
Apparently some guy bought some very expensive cigars, insured them and then smoked them. He then claimed on the insurance policy that they had been destroyed by fire.
The insurance company refused to pay out so he took them to court and - incredibly won.
He went home and celebrated until he got a knock on the door from the police who on behalf of the insurance company then charged him with arson.
:lol2:

I heard that story Wattie, it’s well known in cigar circles. Not sure if a true story or not though.
I guess there no smoke without fire!

Second hand cigar smoke = amazing
Second hand cigarette smoke = vile

I do miss the gentle waft of cigar smoke.
