It's a bit like cars. If you drive Fords all your life, you might be happy. But there's a whole world out there of V8s, and detailing products ;)

I've drunk some pretty rough stuff over the years - but even I've got a line :p

(Nb - that line, for info., is Paddy whisky. Jesus, Mary & Joseph!)

:lol2:

Jesus. Paddy! FFFFFFS!

Actually I was trying to align detailing products with glasses, aerators, wine chillers etc etc

:D

I think I'm richer for being in total ignorant bliss of fine wine. I am actually richer....literally

A wine chiller.....holy cr4p....really. You'd be no good in the trenches you lot

There you go.....I've found 3 bottles in the kitchen cupboard. Are these any good? Genuinely no idea!

Quite possibly. I'd be a bit wary of that last on the right if its been sat with the cork in it for several months.
Get the Chablis in the fridge, best enjoyed chilled and usually a nice drop. If you wanna get poncy get the "Vivino" App and a photo of the label will give you a rating and description. the above rate from 3.6-3.9/5 which are perfectly reasonable.
The best rule with wine is buy what you like not always what someone else advises. We've been recommended so many by others that have disappointed cos they're just not our taste.

Thanks

It was a new bottle last night as the wife had a glass already. Will get finished tomorrow I suspect.

I've always taken on board other opinions but always decide whether to listen depending on my own final thoughts so echo your sentiments.

Luckily I'm mainly easily pleased in some areas. In many other areas very difficult to impossible to please. Go figure!

Why? By the same lights, why aren't you driving a Ford?

Just because some of choose to doesn't mean we can't do without (and I don't have a chiller)

Wary of it? Wouldn't use it to clean the drains. Agree about the others :)

I’ve got a few people coming round for Xmas drinks tonight. Pulled out these two fellas from the wine room, standard 75 cl btl next to them for size. Hoping I won’t run out..

I had a Ford Focus a while back, have 2 Peugeot's, a Mitsubishi, a Peugeot van and am quite happy having/driving whatever.

I guess like you I have some reasonable cars but can do without just choose not to. Same as you with your wine I guess. We are similar in that regard.

I agree.why have something less than you can afford or can have given the choice of little consequence. I appreciate the nicer option don't get me wrong so agree with your point entirely.

Maybe I have some Yorkshire blood in my veins

Some interesting stuff in the auction... I’ve never bought wine from an auction though and would be worried about how it had been kept. Have others done this with success before?

This is my weekend experiment... from Francis Ford Coppola’s Inglenook...

Yes. This may interest you:

A valid point re: condition, etc. These guys offer some comfort in that regard.
They can offer good value particularly with some of their fixed price lots.
Most though an opportunity to try hard/impossible to obtain wines.
