Jaboulet make some great Rhône’. Try Hermitage La Chapelle if you come across it.
Sadly, imho, this wine whilst still very good is still positioned at a price point dictated by former glories. I'm not aware of a recent vintage which justifies the reputation. Whereas, I'd be more inclined to suggest giving Delas Les Bessards a whirl. Also, Jean-Luc Colombo, an original biodiversity "champion", have their Le Rouet offering. Both, again imho, excellent. Agree about Jaboulet though and currently enjoying their Viognier, Secret de Famille. Whilst not their Condrieu, and more quaffable as a result, it's a snip at approx. £10/bottle.

Well, you "do" have to remove the rice afterwards
Surprised you've not had success - works for me. Perfectly.
Clean my coffee grinder burrs with rice too.

You only need to clean if empty, so just keep it permanently topped up?....

Your ideas interest me, and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter :)

Yep, I'm aware of that one. So how do you use rice for carafe cleaning? Not as a mushroom pilau,. I assume? ;)

:lol2:

Not Uncle Ben's boil in a bag either - unless the carafe has a very wide neck

A reasonable quantity of rice and a small quantity of very hot soapy water. I'm guessing your carafes suffer with hard water deposits which subsequently get stained. If the rice doesn't shift this try softening the deposits first - I use some foaming descaler spray. Over a couple of days if necessary with several "swirls" each day. Never not got good results and, imho, bright sparkling glassware adds to an occasion. Talking of which has glassware been discussed here? Riedel gets my vote.

Ahhh scale. Yes that'd be an issue. Was only trying to abrade it. Will try chemicals.

I rather like our Villeroy and Boch Maxima glasses. Probably not well thought of amongst the cognoscenti, though.

They do look nice! Classic design. Can't be doing with some of the funky modern ****.
Only use the Riedel for the "good stuff" and have some Schott Zwiesel for everyday.
Also, an extensive collection of ex mustard jars and cornichon pots for rosé

Ooh Glassware....

Random selection of odds and sods / plus mixed bag selection of Vivo from Villeroy & Boch for everyday (including Rosé)
Riedel for the good stuff (especially for Reds)
Ikea cheapies for Prosecco
William Yeoward crystal for nice champagne

P.S - Mustard isn’t mustard if it isn’t Colman’s... unless it’s lovely French moutarde, when Maille is perfect!
