Why is this QP not selling

OK, so I know its been discussed before but just can not understand why this high miles QP has not sold...Such great value.....We know he bought it at auction and did I hear that it needed a new clutch......He is excepting px on her so there must be a little more money to come of for cash.....Even adding a clutch at 2k it seems good value....

Watching all the vids he has put on for the car it looks in good condition also........Surely this is a bargain if its a straight car...?..

I think even though it is good value for money, buyers would rather pay 2 or 3k more for a lower mileage example. There isn't too many around with high mileage to prove the reliability, unlike equivalent Mercs and BMW's, plus buyers will be worried if it pops it will be very expensive to put right. If you are worried about reliability it will be expensive to put a warrantee on the car due to the high mileage too.
I am sure the points above were discussed before.
Cheers

Yes there is that....Looking a the others there is another at 17995 with 70k on the clock and another with 50k at the same price....The 50k one is silver with blue which is not the best combo....Still think at say 13k/13500 its a good buy it you want a keeper.......

Yeah....for a few more grand...people will opt for the lesser mileage example.......great value but as you say...even the smallest thing giving bother....could be in for a big bill...which then negates the point of buying high mileage cars on the cheap!

Ooh - I like that! If I'd seen that before I bought my A6 last year I'd definately have been interested (my Audi is also a 4.2 but of course completely different in every way). But then again having two Maserati's on the drive might be a little overkill (no offence Loz, and others!). Of course I'm the ultimate optimist and will assume nothing specific will go wrong with it despite the amount I've ploughed into the 4200 in the 6 months since I bought it!

Cheers,
Ben.

I don't like the way the second service was missed... 24k miles and 2 years without a service doesn't help at all.

I like cheap leggy cars, but that'd be too much for me. As others have said, a couple of grand more finds you one with far less mileage.

Lovely colour combo though, with those miles it'd perfect if you're only doing 2k a year!

It's the fact that it needs a clutch that is putting folk off. He'd be better sorting it and putting the price up.

Matt, sorry, I rang and someone else went to see it. 92% worn iirc. Think it needed brakes or tyres too. Get a good low miler for £18000, saved the money already.

On the point of people worried that it has high miles and could go bang....This is a modern car with a modern engine...Why will it go bang if its looked after...As long as its been serviced and bits changed when needed I see no reason why it will not be reliable..........80k is nothing on a car these days..There is a 2006 QP GT with 121k on the clock for sale currently.......These cars can take the miles if looked after......

Not a case of the engine going bang Andy.........but even small items and checks can soon mount up!

I completely agree Andy. With current manufacturing tolerances and materials they should go on and on and on for ever. (I guess that's why most cars are regarded as being female!). I don't think it would put me off if I was on the market for a QP though.

Agree Benny...The days of 70/80k/100k being regarded as high miles keep away has gone....In fact back in 1995 I had a Lotus Esprit Rurbo with 91k on the clock..Ran it for another 10k and never had any issues with her...

As Frank alludes to above, it isn't the engine I'd necessarily be worrying about. It's the wheel bearings, the engine mounts, the suspension bushings, the shocks and springs, all those wear and tear items which still suffer on maotorway mileage cars and which can lump you with a several thousand pound bill. I'd just be thinking the car might be getting a little tired at that age and be ready for quite a lot of small items and a lot of labour, though I may be completely wrong! My entire experience of a QP is sitting in Enzo's perfect example waiting for the Channel Tunnel on the first Le Touquet trip!

/fish in a can, amazing.

However, if you had £13.5k and not a penny more RIGHT NOW but could afford to make a few maintanance payments in a few months time, it's an appealing proposition. That 92% clutch may well last another year or two - ask Loz!

Indeed....a couple of wheel bearing plus labour........£1300......rebushing of one arm.......£200....lamba sensors........all 4 £460 plus fitting.......before you know it....£2-4K... never mind a service and tyres etc...in ones years motoring....but around that age and mileage....could be lucky and have nothing to do......or could break the bank for some

Suppose it's a chance you take........The clutch would be a worry but still......But a QP for 13k...It just doesn't seem right......
