Who's listening?

Was talking to my Uncle this afternoon about a local wheel refurbishment company.
At no time was the wheel refurbishment company entered into any Web site search by myself.
Just now, just had a Google flash up, how was 'touch-n-go' for a Google review!!
The only 'smart device' that could have eavesdrop the conversation was my android wear smartwatch!

Try it again with another topic.

Yup, a week or so ago I was playing the name a food beginning with a, b,c etc with my daughter.

Can’t remember which letter we got too but we couldn’t think of one so out came google and prefilled was the letter we were stuck on.....

I said try it again because I really don’t believe watches are listening to what we say.:conspiracy:

One too many sherries so the following is Biloxi.

Except they are or at least the assistant things are. Someone was convicted of murder in the States based on evidence obtained from a Siri thingy that wasn’t being used.

You have no idea how much data that would be. And why would anyone bother!

Got it wrong the idiot involved asked Siri for the location of swamps and then dumped the body.

Right. So we can accept that the assistants are not listening until triggered.

I actually led the team that made Siri an operational entity (before it was Siri) This is something I understand.

If that’s the case, which I do not disbelieve, did the original watch in question listen in, and then report on the OP or not. Or is it just getting bad press and it was the uncle.

No, it wasn't. It might have been a false positive (which does happen) Depends on the trigger word. It's easy enough to get your data from Google / Apple.

So if I think my phone is listening to my conversations for anything more than target advertising I'm being paranoid , yes

I bumped into somebody I'd not seen or spoken
for 5 years , we spoke for about 5 minutes, next time I opened facebook , there he was , someone you might know.

Maybe it's too much data to monitor every phone in the UK but if you're on a list of potential threats I'd think it very likely somebody is recording every word and text you send.

Many a true word spoken in jest

Defo my smartwatch. It's always connectrd to the internet, having its own data SIM card, speaker and microphone, and my phone was not near me.
My uncle said "touch-n-go, they are very good near Thornes Park" the perfect trigger for a Google review!
I'll try a few other 'recommendations' and see what happens.
Yes my watch does have Google assistant but switched off for voice activation, I've set it so you must push in the crown, so 'assumed' not listening to anything.

I bet you wouldn't find anyone working at GCHQ or RAF Menwith Hill with any of these listening devices in their homes or on their wrists.
