To offer you an alternative opinion, I actually think that you can get more from your cars if you don't use them too often.

When I bought my Alpine, it was supposed to be my daily driver as it was comfortable and economical, but in reality it wasn't working so I bought myself a big ol' Lexus to use as the daily.

The Lexus has actually enhanced my experience with the Alpine because my memory of how good it is fades and therefore I have a big contrast between the two.

An analogy I use is that it's like having a biscuit with your tea, if you eat all the biscuit at once it isn't as good, but if you alternate between having some biscuit then some tea to refresh the pallet then when you go back to the biscuit it tastes so much better.

When I get a Stradale, I'm going to have my tea, biscuit and a scone.

It's like eating a loaf of white bread every day for two weeks, then ordering a steak and Primitivo for one night...then reverting to white bread and water. Got it!:D:p

I bought my 2012 Sport GTS nearly 2 years ago with nearly 16k on the clock. It’s now on 20k - I did 3k the first year and only 1k this year, partly due to buying an i3 which we use a lot now. It’s become more of a weekend/ special occasion car but I’ve loved every single one of those 4K miles and as a 4th car it probably won’t get much more than 1-2k per year and that’s fine with me.

When I was selling my 360 back in 2014 offering it here a 2004 Modena F1 with 60,000 miles at a sub £40,000 and Full Ferrari history my last service nearly £6,000 opinions were it was high mileage.
In hindsight I should have kept it.
Ummmmm...YES. Yes, you should have...!

Haha. You know what, the Lexus has come up as a bit of a surprise. I quite enjoy driving it, it has its quirks and own character.

Yes! Criminally and serially not driving his car and now up for sale whereupon the prices will rise dramatically!

On the other hand, lots of bad maintained an troubled cars at the other end of the spectrum, are pulling prices down.
Happened to 3200GT also.
Good for buyers, bad for owners.

Someone made the point earlier but worded slightly differently, if you want to own your dream car for a short period at minimal cost to tick the box (which is fine BTW), keeping mileage low becomes important nowadays to make it affordable. If you have the financial ability to not be worried about the depreciation part of the cost of ownership (either you don’t intend on selling any time soon or have enough cash that it doesn’t bother you, or both) then mileage shouldn’t be an issue.

I think many on this forum worry about not doing enough miles in their Maseratis rather than too little due to limited time availability!

Not really, they tend to be less troublesome when used imo, my "daily" has been less reliable and more frustrating to live with for the last few years, to the point it has been demoted to the "it won't fit in the 3200's boot" duties :)

My Spyder would be reading that or more had it not had to thumb a ride from a tow truck back to the UK. Meanwhile the daily is approaching 174k (and the s2000 is on 90k)

I think this has happened with quite a lot of cars. The bad ones die off. The Ferrari Dino springs to mind, I'm sure you could get them for next to nothing at one point.

At what age does condition take over from miles covered? If you was in the market for a MK1 or MK2 Escort RS2000 or a Triumph Stag you would go on condition rather than miles covered in most cases.
A car dealer I knew from West London was searching for a Mitsubishi Shogun for his dad many years ago, he located one he thought was good and his dad asked him "How many miles has it done?" the reply was "How many miles do you want it to have done?"

I’m not bothered about mileage, but largely because my annual mileage is low as my daily commute is only 3 miles each way.
In any case, thinking of the QP, it’s now on about 80k miles. But if it were on 90k, the value would be the same, so it’s not a consideration. (It’ll go up by 6 miles today, as I’m just off to the office in it.)

I completely agree, even with my daily M140i that I do an average of 15k a year, it can on occasion be unused for a week, working from home, use the Pinin for short journeys, then it's such a contrast when you do drive it.

Never cared about putting mileage on cars after all that is what they are for.

Bought the SZ in 2003 with 9200 miles on the clock, that was a Thursday and on the Friday we took it to France with their Alfa owners club where we covered just over 1800 miles over the weekend. When we got back I checked the paperwork and it had never done that in a single year previously.
