I wondered when they would start.

All very sad but what a silly girl. All that fame and fortune wasted up her nose!

Died in the same way as Jim Morrison of the Doors with just a little less 'Rock n Roll'

It's tragic but I have absolutely no sympathy. They all had, or should have had, richly rewarding lives with fame and fortune but they willingly threw it all away. All they had to do was say 'No' but they didn't have the strength of character to do so and carry on living. Brainless morons, the lot of them.

So emptahy isn't a word in your lexicon then Ian.........

I don't think emptahy (sic) is a word in any lexicon Frank! Seriously though, after seeing what the kids in Christies have to go through to try and cling to life I have no sympathy whatsoever with rich idiots who throw theirs away. Yes, life is a b1tch but I won't lose sleep over weak willed idiots that p1ss away the advantages life gives to them on a plate. Sorry, but bollox to them.

oooopppssss.........some people don't get to choose their life paths...some do, sure it annoys me to see people end up damaged or dead by their own actions...but there has to be a degree of understanding....mistakes/accidents happen.....wealth/status and intellect are no guarantees of doing the right thing for the right reason

Unfortunately, I am not in a position or frame of mind to see that. Everybody knows that too much alcohol, tobacco, drugs etc can be detrimental to health in the same way driving cars into motorway bridge supports can be, so don't do it. There are many excuses as to why people take drugs or become alcoholics, chief among which is peer pressure. I guess I'm just not that sympathetic as I can't see any justification in throwing ones life away. Just say No but, if you can't, take what comes but don't expect any sympathy, or empathy, from me. The only illegal drug users I have a measure of sympathy for are medicinal pot users, when pot is used solely for the relief of pain or symptoms.

And what about morphine Ian.......surely you most be ok with it too.......(refined heroin)....

Seriously.....no black and whites on this....people make mistakes all the time.......my father was an alcoholic Ian.....lived in a pub........had a half glass of Guinness with his porridge as a child......alcohol was part of the culture...his life, up-bringing...he didn't binge drink or get drunk but with chronic long term exposure to it he became dependent.......no sympathy Ian...no understanding....no mitigating circumstances?

Couldn't agree more!

Took the words out of my mouth

If its all proved its due to drugs and abuse then no sympathy at all.....

just my two pence worth

Morphine is legal and isn't generally use in quantities large enough to establish dependency, although it occasionally does. I have no wish to upset you by by repeating my views on dependency, or by discussing the sad way in which your father became dependent, so it is best we agree to strongly disagree about this as we are poles apart and are unlikely to be able to meet in the middle. I value your opinions, but this, to me, is black and white and I guess it always will be.

I have to agree. You are where you are because of personal experiences, as am I. Until we can stand in each others shoes I guess that's where we will stay. Life is a b1tch.

I always feel sorry for anyone that loses their life. When it happens to a Superstar and I thought she was brilliant at her peak, I still feel sorry for them. Superstars have a weird life, even though they have pots of money. They rarely get any privacy and are under pressure all the time, if they decide to get some relief by using booze, I can understand that. Unfortunately sometimes their so called friends and family, try to make them feel better by introducing other substances and use this to their own advantage. Moments of weakness affect us all at times and if your so low that you feel something might make life just that little bit better, you can be tempted. She was obviously vulnerable and taken advantage of, so I feel sorry for her. Obviously everyone has a choice and she made the wrong one, but that is weakness, it's not always stupidity. It's a great pity she was surrounded by people who obviously did not think enough of her to make sure she stayed healthy.

Believe me I wish I could play another hand because at the moment our hand, as a family, couldn't be a lot worse.
