Ok Guys' we've done Rovers, What's your opinion on Citroens? My dad had a DS21 but always hankered after a Citroen SM. It left a lasting impression on me as a young boy. The DS was so advanced and futuristic looking for its time, l can just see it now gliding at speed in the outside lane. What do you boys think?

Nice car in a quirky Citroen way. I used to have a Xantia Exclusive TDi. Fairly low rent but a really nice place to be at 90 on the motorway. Not a sports car by any means but a relaxed cruiser. It cost £26,500 when new and I got it 3 years old with 75000 miles and I paid £3995 with FSH. Seemed to be the way with big Citroens.

Citroen have lost their appeal now becoming to "normal" and boring, there was a time they were different, stood out from the rest. They're horrible now, can't believe they are the same company....May as well get a Rover!!!

My mate has a C2 VTR, nice car that is, pretty nippy and not bad build quality. You will all probably tell me to get lost but would like a Saxo VTS for a laugh, get a decent one for about 2k. They are pretty rapid.

My mother had a Citroen GS in the late 70's her first new car and she ran it till the late 80's, having moved to Derbyshire in 81. It couldn't cope with the rock salt and rotted a little more every year... One night she was coming up from Glosop and was overwhelmed by the smell of petrol and limped it home with the windows open! When my old man investigated the carpets were soaked in petrol; so he took out the back seat and took up the carpet to find that the top half of the fuel tank was the floor!!! at least it had been but this had been replaced by the carpet!!! Dread to think what would have happened if she'd hit anything :boom:

Early 90's I had a BX estate Diesel; makes me shudder to think how bad that was... Early diesel with no turbo! 0-60 about a week and forget overtaking.. Oh yes and Citroens never used their back brakes apart from for the handbrake!

Not good cars back then & not good now... Usefull points - Landrover adopted their suspension in the Disco' & Range Rovers!!!
