Was all set to buy a 911tt but have been seduced by the GranSport!

You can get winter tyres for just about any car so that is not relevant. Either car will be great. One option is to buy one for a year and then get the other.

Or mad idea - buy cheap leggy versions of both!

Hi Mondie,

A belated welcome to the forum. If you're undecided between the 911 and the GS, test drive them both. They're very different in character. The GS will come off second best in some regards, but for sheer driving pleasure and character it'll beat the 911 hands down. Just depends on what you want. Hope you choose Italian and all the best in the search.

Regards, Miles.

As a newbie here too I've had exactly the same thoughts. There is of course a nice looking GS for sale in NE Scotland.

Thanks Dicky grace on the tyre info and Bob, after some research it does indeed seem like winter tyres are a non issue. The idea of leggy versions has some merit but to be honest I am too much of a perfectionist and know I wouldn't be happy with two ragged out cars.

The 911 vs. GS is a power vs. passion decision I guess complicated further because the 911 would be a manual and the GS Cambiocorsa. There is a nice GS for sale just 10 miles from me, I have contacted the seller and explained my indecision and he has replied that he is more than happy to show me the car. So thats the next step

Cheers

Which 911 turbo series number are you talking about? The older ones are not faster than a GS (I think)...

I fancy an old school 911 to muck around with, a targa preferably, mid 80s, I'm guessing they hold their value pretty well.

Hmm, the 968 CS, apparently the best handling front engined Porsche ever made.
