Thanks for collating this!

My car has done 90k.
Both sides had evidence of cracks.
Only one bolt was seized though.

Regards

Olly

Interesting. On the bushes in the failed parts can you move the inner part independent of the outer part? It should turn with a bit of resistance using a pair of pipe wrenches.

On mine you can see the beginnings of rust under the grease.

I just received confirmation from my indie that my wishbones are perfectly fine (2001 AC with 80.000kms = 50.000 miles). Although this is a huge relief for me personally, I feel really sorry for the fellow-owners who are affected by these cracks.

Checked with the arms in situ, using contrast liquid that is used to detect cracks in cylinder heads

Does checking these in situ enable you to see any cracks that have yet to make it through to the surface?

I doubt that Peter. The crack seems to start on the inside and work its way out, so only the extreme cracks are visible whilst viewed on the car and the bush still in place. Guess if you do not see a crack, it is something that goes on the list for regular checking:unsure:

So please for you - hope they stay intact.
Your look like in great condition (even the bushes) - did you get them media blasted?

karatemaserati

Are you certain there is a crack? In the photo it looks like a shadow of the casting rib. Sure it looks different to the naked eye of course.
I know I have doubted my own eyes, until I removed the mounting bolts. Luck really As I spent all day sawing through bolts with a hand powered hacksaw. :(

Sorry karatemaserati, like you said, at least it is only one side :(
Was it near or far side?

Indeed they look like they are in good condition. Don't know the reason for it. They may have been changed by the previous owner (I can't check, cause I don't have any old invoices) but I also try to stay away from salt on the roads. Perhaps that helps to keep the bushes in good condition. No they were not blasted, just cleaned by my indie in order to perform the crack check.
