Yes read it but doesn't explain why some which haven't had the bushes replaced have developed the crack.

Had a look at mine this afternoon, and as far as I can tell with it driven up onto a couple of blocks of wood, all okay.
Will have a better look when it goes for its MOT up on a lift.
To be honest the casting marks are not very pronounced on mine, a bit of sanding and you could smooth them off.
Deffo original wishbones, cars only done 14K miles to date.

Follow up reply from Maserati;

Thank you for your Email dated 7 February following our recent communication.

As a motor manufacturer we are fully aware of our obligations in cooperating with DVSA (formally VOSA) and will of course respond to any requests made by this government agency.

With kind regards

Last time I was there Roberto did not do alignment*, so may not have been as involved in wishbone replacement or fettling with shims.

*my car had full 4 wheel alignement done by sub-contractor

My car is with Roberto at Grimaldi at the moment having some other work done. I phoned him yesterday to get him to check the wishbones on my car while it was there. He had never heard of the problem. Make of that what you will.

Peter

I am reading this at work with my mouth wide open.
Hope my letter has now arrived at Maserati UK and been properly looked at by senior executives. Reckon half the miles covered by my 3200 GT in the last 4-5 years have been done on charity passenger rides.
I do so love my 3200, but this might take it off the road for a long long time. It is certsainly retired from active service as a fundraising vehicle. I feel properly sick.

Managed to get time to check mine this morning and glad I did. Nearside looks fine. Offside is clearly cracked and seems to have been like this for some time.

Nearside:

Both are original parts. Car is an 02 4200 Cambiocorsa with 42K

You should have a look at the area indicated below, that grey line is the spot that they go so this needs further investigation:

Sorry to say I agree with Conaero (Matt) - that line does look like a potential crack. Clean up and inspection is strong light might dispel any worries. Even try the penetrant dye suggested earlier in this thread.

cool i will have another look but i was fairly satisfied at the time they were ok.

is it only the front seam of the front wishbone we are interested in? i tried looking at the rear seam but it wasnt easily visible cause of a metal cover thing?

Yes, it does seem to the the front seam of the front wishbone at the narrow end (end without the bulge) that they appear to go. That line in the image might just be a scratch but it needs checking.

ok to save time, when i jack her back up can i just jack her up straight from the wishbone as positioned in the first pic? or should you always jack up first and then jack up the wishbone?

I would not jack up direct from the wishbone, that is asking for trouble.

Jack the car up first then jack up the wishbone when the weight is supported.

I'd be equally as concerned as Matt with that white trace on the lower picture... Developer spray is the answer & will show it as a crack or not.
