Warning Lights

That is an acceleration sensor, it is for the skyhook system nothing to do with the ABS sensor.

If the wheel speed sensor is failing you will have to go the painful way abs buy the who hub, they are not available seperately. Sorry!
Thanks Zep!

I think I have the abs sensor problem. 3 warning lights including asr and suspension failure came up once about 3 months ago. Restarted engine and it cleared. However now comes on immediately and local garage diagnosed it as front abs failure. Looks like a visit to Marios.

This may be of no help to you but I've not had any trouble with the abs sensor since March 21 after buying a ctek and putting it on recond. Might be worth a look.

I have the Lidl or Aldi version and keep it on until I take the car out once a week.

Is there any likely damage if I continue to use the car until the part is available? I am unlikely to need the abs in anger

I had the same issue re intermittent fault that cleared on start and them became persistent.

Was fixed by new battery.

No. Just remember you wont have the hill hold facility either so you will either have to hold it on the clutch or hand brake if your in traffic or stopped at lights on a hill.

I have the same warning lights. My mechanic identified it as ABS sensor. New hub I'm afraid and on back order as Catman V2 said earlier. Might be available early 2022.

Looks like a parts supplier in the USA has some. Although his skills with ebay may be lacking a little.

Never heard of them before so buyer beware.

What is it that actually fails. I am surprised that no one can refurbish the axle.

Its a small amount of play in the bearing. Not enough play to fail an MOT but enough play that the abs system gets an out of range / incorrect speed reading from the sensor itself.

Beware indeed. They looks like they might be the fake ones.

Check any prospective purchases, the real ones have SKF in raised letters on the inside of the hub flange.

The refurb has been looked at over and over. The way the hub is designed and assembled means that it is impossible to take it apart without rendering it useless. The housing forms the outer race, the hub is penned over into the inner race, then magnetised for the ABS sensor. It’s basically impossible.

Those are fake. We bought 8 and sent them back as I could buy them for a tenth the price.

They don’t last btw. We trialed 2, one lasted 3 days, the other failed out the box.

Things spot:

it MUST have SKF in the flange casting

It must have a blue, of the same colour wire, watch out for slightly lighter ones

It must have shrink wrap where the cable meets the sensor on the ring

Finally, the ones I bought, they used OEM pics so I got them on not as described

Use PayPal for any purchases, you are then protected.

Should have kept my mouth shut - error lights back with avengence after a wash yesterday.

Additional symptom this morning - traction control kicks in over 2000rpm and car is nigh on undriveable unless you turn the traction control off.

Is this related to the abs sensor or something else?
