Haven't Vredstein come out with a new tyre - the Vorti? Some positive reviews:

Can't seem to find a fitment for the Gransport or the coupe, so the Sessanta is where we are.

Had Sessantas fitted to my Gransport and no complaints. I also like the look of the tread - sad when aesthetics are an equally important consideration. Bought the car with P-Zeros and the test drive in the wet was amusing. They were rapidly changed.

Won't touch the Vred's. First hand (well second hand from forum members, but I was there at the time) experience of blowouts after hitting holes (GS rather than 4200, so a little less rubber to be fair). Tried Pirelli P Zero's and quite satisfied, but now trying the new Falken 453's. Impressed so far, but not had much chance to test them properly given the weather. The biggest thing I've found to affect the impression of tyre performance ain't the tyre, but rather the tyre pressure. Just a couple of points bar difference can completely change the characteristics of a tyre, it's grip and the way it tracks.

My local tyre place were quite surprised when I asked for 2.1 bar in my 453's **** I wish I could get the damned thing out!

Best way of verifying tyre pressures...most reliable piece of kit?

Must admit to only checking them intermittently.........just after the police have tried to catch me.....;)

I'm actually looking for a good guage too. We just did some sand dune 4 wheel driving with a few guys and had to deflate our tyres. When the time came to inflate them, we had 3 cheap guages between us that all gave different readings. The ones at the service stations seem to be even worse - if they work at all!!!

We did this when I bought the 4200. I'll see if I can dig out the thread where someone gave me a recommendation for a gauge that I've still not bought.

Miles - what are the Falkens like for noise? I fitted a full set of 452s to my Alfa GT and found them to be incredibly noisy across most road surfaces. I know Matt found the same with his and swapped to something different. I have the Vreds fitted to my GS already, but have no comment to make as I've hardly driven it since I've had it due to poor weather! Damn the rain/snow/rain!!

I have 453's on the rear at the moment. Road noise is less than my Alfa GT with Potenzas. Grips seems very good as well.

Like Catman I have them on the rear, but only fitted them a few months back. With the weather since then I can't really comment with certainty, but nothing that I've noticed. Can't say I noticed anything with my 4200 either. Ran the 452's on that and I thought they were really good, hence trying the new one's on the GS. Time will tell I guess.

I have these Vreds on my uprated 951 (944 turbo for the non-Porsche readers) and they're great. Definitely better than the Michelin Sports on my Cup.

I chose them purely on visual appearance (usually a rubbish idea), but I have to say, appearances can be accurate!
