Gave it a lot of thought.
I'm only an occasional poster and probably only log on a couple of times a week.

I can only echo what others have said about the friendliness of the people on the forum, it is really good and I wouldn't want to see that change.
You've made me very welcome on the forum and Marcelle and I both enjoyed meeting all of you at the events.

But for my tuppence worth:

I don't see the value of the leaderboard and would like to see some of the posts in the tech sections stay a bit more on topic.
There are times when I am tight on time and just want to quickly catch up on what's happening in the tech sections or events.
As I don't log on every day I must admit I sometimes give up reading threads because they have wandered so far from the topic for several pages of posts.
I'm not saying that there should be a rigid policing of 'on topic or else', I can be guilty myself, but a little more thought wouldn't hurt.

When I've got more time I'll browse the threads in the Chat, so please maintain the chat section - I do enjoy it when I have the time.

Whatever you choose to do, don't change the warm and friendly nature of the place.

Cheers

Says King of the Hill .... Thread staying on topic can be a bit hard I think ... Tech threads it should be easy bit some threads naturally drift which I think is fine ... I've been on to many forums that you get you're knuckles slapped for going off thread ... Its suppose to be fun as well as informative and thats what I like about the forum ... You are like no other so please keep it that way....Please don't let it get too heavy.

yep yep yep thats the reason we came here and left MF in the 1st place

...and the rest Dem.....sure....keep on topic as much as possible....I don't think we drift too much on the running/fixes/technical stuff......but a lot of the rest is about opinions, experiences, wants, needs, desires and innocent friendly banter.....plus the effort put into the events makes this forum very, very appealing, welcoming and non-judgemental/authoritarian...never mind the endless offers of genuine help to anyone who needs it.

Long live sportsmaserati!!!!!!!!

I have just been trying to find a half way house, trying to make the leadership and post count less in your face and concentrate more on more posts.

Not saying it will stay this way, but we have some big plans to add more to the home page including some paid sponsorship as I cant keep funding the site out of my pocket, especially as last month it cost me £350. This was mainly due to Google adwords, which I have reined in now.

I just dont want to charge members for using the forum. A little sponsorship is the way forward. Now that Brian has done one, I dont have an issue in generating finance to cover costs this way.

Its only at discussion phase, nothing has been agreed as yet.

Ok, I will be in the minority whose opinions won't count but I feel the site has developed into one of those 'social networking' things - not my cup of tea at all. Whilst SM has a lot of relevant Maserati items posted by knowledgable people there is also a lot of dubious material. If that's what the majority want and if that view is supported by the site owners then so be it - but not for me, and perhaps a few others who haven't expressed an opinion, judging by the small number of voters in the poll.
Right, I'll get my coat!
