Its been a topic of conversation of recent between the sites founding members. We are still bowled over by the enthusiasm of some of our members, but in the pursuit of perfection, we are thinking of making the site less about the competition for the top spot on the leaders board, and instead concentrate more on all things Maserati.

We are considering deploying a chat room area were members are free to talk about anything and everything and where the moderation will be even more relaxed.

Its great to have the banter, but we feel with the potential re launch of certain other Maserati based forums, this would be a good time to apply the focus back on the marque.

As every, this is a democratic forum, so I invite you to submit you opinion and vote.

REMEMBER TO VOTE, JUST CHECK THE TOP OF THE PAGE TO VOTE AND VIEW RESULTS.

I think that would be a very good idea Matt, never know what the other side is up to, best to be ahead of the competition if I may call them that!

Totally agree Matt , the job of the leaders board is done , its far superceeded what it was originally set out to do , like all things its run its course in My Humble opinion ,and the idea of a seperate chat room for (off topics ) is a great idea , especially for us (Billy no mates) mon to friday , looking forward to seeing and using it, especially as i have just purchased a BRAND spanking NEW anorak hehe

As before guys, the site will continue to evolve and mature as befits a new forum, it starts out as one thing then becomes something slightly different to meet the ongoing needs of members, owners and enthusiasts.

It is difficult to be all things to all men, but the beauty about this forum is it is prepared to take on views of members for the good of the forum and indeed the members themselves.

The top ten posters have contributed a huge amount in many ways to this forum, both by posting and other inclusive activities.

Equally, there are members with few posts but who've given of their time, knowledge and sincere thought as to how continue to enjoy your pride and joy.

I continue to enjoy this forum on many levels and look forward to doing so for quite some time to come!

LONG LIVE SPORTSMASERATI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dem, not its not aimed at you this is a general situation that we have been monitoring for the past few months, I think your mega posting this week has just pushed it to the forefront again.

The last thing we want to do is offend anyone, especially members who are putting in a massive effort, its just we feel that we are approaching 50k post, so we can now consider ourselves established and the need to bulk post is not necessary anymore.

Removal of the league table will also allow us to double the amount of Most Active Threads.

Ok, so far, its pretty clear where the majority lies. Still, we only have 14 votes so can you all make sure you cast your opinion.

I'm glad Matt has posted this, not because I give a flying F**K what the other 'forum' is doing (can it even call itself that?) (sorry, I'm in such a bad mood over the whole Christmas meet thing!), but because I think it will help us move OUR forum forward, so my two penneth for what little it's worth....

Leader-board - good or bad? - I think absolutely good. The likes of Andy, Parisien, Dem and Adam (and others along the way) have and continue to commit time, effort and thought to posting on the forum. Within the current structure of the forum, this is the way that that commitment can be made evident to all us other users. I would miss being able to celebrate posting milestones. I was fortunate to receive some lovely comments recently as I passed 2K posts, and was delighted to extend the same congratulations to Loz and Dem recently also. Different things I know, one a post count, one a post activity, but both equally valid.

Should the leader-board continue going forward? - I hope yes, but also to be joined by a post-count leader-board. These are after-all the two measures of activity on the forum, however is there a need for it to occupy the 'front page' of the forum now? I'd say no I think, as we have a 'stats' page that I would certainly continue to check to see who's up there, and who deserves a high-five for a posting milestone.

I love the idea of a chat section, though its relation to the forum itself needs consideration. What starts as a car related post inevitably takes on a conversational aspect and, like all men, our minds wander. Is it possible to have a chat thread to run along-side each forum thread?

And the chat? h€ll yes! I've met many of you (and hope to meet more as occasion allows) and would feel restricted if I couldn't wander off topic to 'just talk' if I wanted. It's part of why I like being here and it's been part of our success so far I think, so I hope it will be given equal consideration to the forum bit of the forum (does that make sense?)

As I've mentioned elsewhere, we're such a small community (which is why I'm so vexed by the actions over the road), so anything that will help us encourage all Maseratisti to visit, register and feel it's a comfortable place to be and 'talk' has to be worth consideration.

Sorry that was far from two penneth!

Regards to my fellow Maserati reprobates as always,

Miles.

Some very valid points Miles , a few which i should of considered before voting maybe , one of things that impress more than most with this forum , is its ability to change and change quickly whilst being as democratic as feasably possible , the league table is an excellent idea , but it needs to be used , so an accurate assumption can be derived from it

I love this forum for the way it is and Miles is dead right with his comments ... I have almost stopped posting on any other forum and thats a first for me .... I come here for the passion for Maserati that the site has, for the chat and fun feeling that the forum portrays .... A chat room would be good thinking about it but try not to mess with the format too much as I believe iit realy realy works.

Dear Moderators.
while trying to improve the forum, which is always a must, please remember that the forum is very succesful, probably more succesful than you envisaged when you all planned this, and its very succesful in a very short space of time.
to me that should tell you , 1. this is what people want.
2. the format you have set up is pretty much as they want it.

while I voted for change, I do agree with pretty much all of what myles has said. I think the success is much to do with the "chat". I feel I have become close friends with people I have never met, thats strange in society, so thats is a very good thing, and I am sure that it is the same for all the other active posters.
I think that the facillity to view the post rankings should remain, be it at the click of a button, the facillity to chat & browse the chat rooms should be easy.
But however you try to re-organise & get to the original concept of MASERATI content & discussions i think you should study carefuly the past car dedicated threads. How many of them stayed on topic for long.
Did any off them actualy start & finish on the original topic.
I dont think many of them will.
We are just a collection of free thinking guys with opinions, who like to prattle on with other like souls.

I'm sure that you will do whats best for the continual success of our forum..............if not , we'll just talk about you.

Mr. green, reservoirfrog.

From the little time I have been on the forum one thing that is evident is that new members are always commenting on the friendly welcome atmosphere compared to others, I think you must be very careful not to lose that element as that is what makes it so special along with everything else the forum has to offer. What you all have accomplished in such a small time is a big achievement, try not to change it too much and lose what you have so far. don't rush into anything just because things are changing on the other side they are still a long way behind.

Well guys im probably one of the newest members on this Great Forum and as i have said before bought my first Maserati one a whim and then found you all.
I find the forum is now part of my daily life.
I love that so many of you have so much knowledge of these truly great cars and when i have met you in person how friendly you are.
I love the banter between many of you.
Good work and keep it up.

The site is working beautifully. Whilst many of the posts are not Maserati or Italian Car related they add humour and a site without humour would send us right back to the Maserati Forum days. For me humour is an integral part of chatting
