That looks bloody good value
I thought it would have high mileage when I saw the price but that wants snapping up I'd say!

Think there is a few threads on this one now. Started at 51k I think. As mentioned before makes the private sale black one look well over priced. Although I see they have dropped that by 5k now as well to 65k. So hard selling these type of cars these days. Look at that other white one at 57k......Surprised that it hasn't had weeds grow around it..........

So this is one thing I never get with some dealers.....Car for sale at 49k and gone up to 53k now.......It didn't sell at 49k so why the **** do they think it will at 53k.....In fact it's more than the 51k it was originally up for.......

Hum it’s now £53k which is a realistic price in the current tough market.

Investment opportunity for someone prepared to buy and hold.

I wouldn't pay it Matt...If they were willing sell at 49k then that's what they want.....

Still very cheap for a dealer prepared car with a warranty.

If you arrive at a bar just after Happy Hour has finished, you can't moan that the price of your drink is now more that it would have been a little while earlier. You snooze, you lose! So, buy it now before it goes up again.

That's really not how the trade works! It's 49,995 or he lumps it. Why would anyone pay the asking now? Talk about showing your hand!

Really? Two weeks ago you could have bought some of my shares in Quadrise Fuels for about 4p each. If you want them now, you’ll have to pay me double that. (Not that I’m selling.)

Markets are fluid and a seller can ask whatever he likes, whenever he likes. It’s not right or wrong. But I agree, in this particular Maserati example, it’s an unusual tactic!

Indeed....100% agree with that. It is a strange world we live in now solely or mainly based on trust and/or belief. Belief that when someone says something is worth what it is that it actually is....or they believe it is. Also that other people do feel or will feel the same way then or in the future. As soon as we lose that, we start to lose the whole basis of belief in anything.

My issues are that I have found myself questioning this belief my whole life to this day. I don't see this wavering or reducing any time soon.

Why is a strange polymer worth the amount of money that is printed on it? Some a strange concept that something so worthless in an actual physical sense can be worse so much more in another senses.

At least a Strad has some real, present, tangible and amazingly enjoyable value.

The rest of it all.....well the jury is out....I'm really not so sure.

Sorry just don't agree....51k...49k.....53k.....Can't say I've seen this from specialists that we respect. Will never understand this especially when no one bought it at 49k..?....When selling a car you try and get as much as you can for it. If it doesn't sell you then drop the price or leave it at the high price hoping it will sell eventually........a you don't tend to go 'ah well it isn't selling ....I know the best thing to do.....lets put the price up as that will do it,'...........but what I'm not saying is that the car isn't worth it. These are probably underpriced anyway for what they are but that's the state of the currentmarket I suppose.

Never understood sales tactics of reducing and increasing to even more, doesn't impress me but I guess there is some logic in their head. In my mind anyone seriously wanting a Strad would be watching prices of all current cars and would seen these reductions and would therefore be in a position to make the right offer. At the end of the day it is worth what some one will pay.

But new people come to the market everyday. Someone might walk into their showroom today having not see it advertised st a lower price a couple of weeks ago. And it’s still the cheapest for sale.

I personally wouldn't employ the price fluctuations tactic and can't see how it can work bit maybe it does. I don't buy or sell cars every day of the week so can't comment as a matter of fact if it works or not. Maybe it does or maybe it doesn't. Us eagle eyed cherries watch the market but many probably don't. You only need one punter to see the car at the right time or higher price and you have made a few k more.

Each to their own and we are all different. Maybe there are good reasons for these games that we just don't know. I will reserve judgement until I know. I'll ask my brother to see if he knows if this is a valid or common tactic and why.

I'm the same as you Andy in that I will list a car for a price normally a little higher than what I think it is worth initially. You gauge the interest and market then make a reduction if required until a sale is made.

One reason that may be valid is if the dealer/seller had to spend some money on the car during the sale period. Maybe a Service or a clutch or some tyres etc. so they could be valid underlying reasons that make sense.

This price fluctuation up and down is obviously a new sales tactic that is being employed.

I’ve seen it on three Maseratis in the past year.

I don’t know how it works but I have a theory.

You advertise it below market value and forums like ours get on to it. We are basically advertising this car for him.

Price goes up.

Also at 30k miles it’s a year away from a clutch.

£53k+£3k and your at £56k

Is this a cheap car?

Also nobody has been to see it, it could be a turd...unlikely, but it could be.

Dicky, can you shed any light on this?

One thing I have learnt in my 46 years on this planet that my dad struggled with is to keep an open mind. You never know....you might learn something new.

Could be it was suspiciously cheap and people were put off. Gotta be something wrong with it at that price, here lies a dog, mused the masses.

Let’s see if it sells. I’d love to know for how much. Please can one of you buy it and report back?
