Vacuum cleaner recommendation

We had a couple of Dysons and they were so useless the cleaners requested we get Miele ones instead. Apparently a big improvement.

But it sounds like one of these Shark anti-hair tangle jobbies is a good idea. Thanks for the tip, chaps.

We have a £200 wall hanging battery powered one from one of the big guys (Hoover I think) and they are all **** IMHO. They are convenient for quick clear ups but if you want the job done properly out comes the Henry, pre Euro legislation de powered one comes out and tries to pull the carpet off the floor. Brilliant.

It all reminds me of the petrol to electric car thing. They tell you they are better but they are not.

“There is no substitute for cubic capacity!”
Matt, Wasnt there a guy on here selling uprated Henry's? Your one sounds great

Beau yes, he’s sold his Maz and gone down the rice rocket avenue but he may still do it. PM him

Cordless - the battery does not last long enough. OK for one area but then gives up, especially if you have it on "high". As Matt says, no substitute for full fat electricity. (Can't help feeling there's a bit of irony in there somewhere!)

Two dogs mean daily hoovering the main area here and a battery powered one is so much easier, we have an older Dyson with an anti tangle head for pets and it is perfect for what we need.

Having been through countless Dyson, I have concluded they're just over priced tat living off their brand.

We've had a Shark thing for the last 3 years and it's pretty good, and has lasted longer than any of the Dyson's we've had.

We have a Philipps thing. Not cordless so I won't bother with the details but it sucks like a pro and the quality is great. Gets bashed about and still carries on. Much better than the Dyson that preceded it.

Still can't beat a Hoover 612; mine is 70 years old (at least some bits of it are)...

I'm quite the messy person despite the cleaner's frequent visits I've never noticed what brand vacuum cleaner she uses...

Ewan already said that she uses a Miele these days.

At least, I'm assuming that a man who's so bloody messy that he needs multiple cleaners* may at least have the taste to hire tastefully attired ones.
