Thinking of selling my GS

Guys,

I'm thinking of selling my GS as I just don't use it much and have an investment opportunity that frankly needs some additional funds. Does anyone have a view on what the market is like at the moment and a likely value?

My car is a 2005 05 plate GS, with 36K miles. The car is in superb condition, in Grigio Touring (Silver), dark unmarked Techno trim. Factory extras are: Xenon Headlights with wash jets, Rear parking sensors, Becker Cascade CD Multi Changer, with Bluetooth and Sat Nav. Only ever run on Shell and always garaged. Hand washed and polished. A couple of minor scuffs on the rear wheels and virtually blemish free paintwork.

During my ownership, since 2009, the car has had the following:

New Bosch Battery
Big 31K service carried out at 29K miles at Meridien Modena
EBC Red Stuff Pads all round (fitted at 31K service)
Steering Rack gaitors
Complete clutch at 34K miles (so only just over 2K miles ago), supplied and fitted by Meridien Modena
Two new rear tyres (Falken) at 34K miles
Annual Service (Jan 2011) - Self fit BMC filter and Shell Helix oil change and Genuine Maserati Oil Filter by local garage (this is only the annual. All mileage based are Main Agents)
Two new Front tyres (Pirelli) at 35K miles
Four wheel Geo when front tyres fitted

Oh dear, another one down, well its inevitable I suppose.

As for price, being 2005/Private/Low Mileage/Tech Cloth I suppose your target price should realistically be £25k. You might want to advertise it a little higher to achieve that price. I think £26,995 would be a good starting point.

Depending upon how quick you want to sell it, you should not drop below £24k IMHO

Am I reading correctly that you performed your own service in January and therefore have no garage stamp? I think most people would be worried about that, I know I would, purely based on the fact that one day I would be looking to sell it on.

But summer is the time to sell!

Lewis, I think V8 says he fitted the BMC air filter himself but the January oil and filter change was done by a local garage. As it's only the annual, I don't think that it would cause me too many sleepless nights. Good luck with the sale.

...apart from filter/oil...an annual service consists of many checks and SD hook up to ensure all running as it should..........so technically they can turn around and say it wasn't fully serviced....

I'm looking for one at present so would honestly agree with Lewis. If the last check was with a specialist it would help the sale. I'd say cheaper than most as the market's awful at the moment. I don't think £26,995 is realistic(sorry Matt). I'd be advertising it for £24k and hoping to get as close to it as possible. ADG are selling two at £24,490 & £25,990. From experience, I usually find that undercutting a dealer by any less than £1000 is unlikely to have the phone ringing. I hope you don't think I'm being negative about the car, I am trying to be realistic and help you sell it. If you could get £25k for it, you would do well.

Worth keeping in mind also that the dealerships are often willing to throw in a service and a warranty as part of any sale.

Dicky I accept your point just did not want to go in too hard. £25k would be great, £24k ok and £23k realistic.

I'd echo what everone else has said.

One thing I'm interested in from a purely selfish point of view - why did you go for Falkens on the rear and Pirelli's on the front? I have that set up at the moment, but when the fronts need changing, I'm going to go for falkens....interested why you chose to keep them as different brands.

Thanks All, I've decided that I'm going to keep her on at least until next spring as I've used another funding source for my project....in fact I've just treated her to a nice wash and polish this afternoon using Harlywax, which I highly recommend and she looks lurverly.

Woody, regarding the tyre set up I cant praise Falkens enough. The reason for going Pirelli on the front is that getting Falkens at the moment is a bit like finding rocking horse **** and I was able to source the Pirellis from a mate who was upgrading his wheels on another marque so only had to pay £100 for the pair (as new) plus fitting and four wheel alignment (using Hunter equipment at a local family run garage)....

Regards
Paul
