The good morning thread

Morning all. Busy day again today, not helped by being awake from 4am by Sophia who decided to scream the house down and refuse to stop until about 7am, by which time she had worn herself out and fell asleep. But also the time I would normally have been up for an hour.

Got into the office to find that the problem Apple are trying to remedy on my iMac hasn't been remedied (it won't connect to the internet via the ethernet cable although will via WiFi, even though the IMac says that it is connected to the www!).
Only started on the last update I did on Tuesday! I thought it was only Microsoft that buggered up your computer?

Although to be fair, this is the first (Apple) issue in 8 years!

Phone appointment done with Dr; off around the corner to pick up some happy pills... Never had to resort to medication but I just can't shake it this year by myself and that in itself is getting me down!
Good for you contacting the docs Newton. I’ve been on and off happy pills for a years and for me they do work and keep the old demons at bay. Takes a couple of weeks for them to start making a difference but once they do you’ll be glad you went down that path. Maybe if you suffer regularly or at a certain time of the year it could be worth speaking to the doc about meds for prevention short term during that time. I hope you perk up soon chap. All the very best to you.

Morning all,

Christmas seems to come around faster and faster every year doesn't it. Or, is this the first sign of dementia

Newton. I've been / am where you are bro. I'll send you my phone number via PM and should you want to talk,
at any time of the day or night, don't hesitate to call. I mean it. Well done you for speaking to your doc and getting some tabs to take the edge off. It gets easier from here on. I promise. I'm no expert. However, sometimes just comparing your experience with someone in a similar place can really help. At the very least, you know that you're not as isolated as you might think and there are grown-ups who care, who will listen and not judge.

I had a spectacular wake up this morning. Was like old times here. I was listening to the World Service and a report was coming in from Kiev, from a reporter. Duh. Obvs! And you could hear the sound of explosions and pops in the background. I was barely awake. Then I was sure I could smell smoke and the pops and bangs were getting louder.
Suddenly, I could see red through my black out curtains. I thought, f**k me. This is all getting a bit too realistic!
The rear of my house faces into a smallish hotel car park in a development with a couple of dozen holiday apartments. Its on the North Coast. Yadda yadda.

There's the usual communal commercial sized rubbish bins about thirty yards from my house and they were all ablaze. Like bonfire night! Luckily no cars right next to the blaze although a few had trim melted. Called 999. Brigade arrived twenty minutes later. Fire out. Nobody hurt. Most hotel guests slept through it. No drama.
But combined with the World Service report, with exactly the same sound effects, what are the odds.
This place is like one of the small seaside villages on the Norfolk coast. Only quieter. Maybe 1,500 people here max, off season. Inc hotel guests. Nothing ever happens here.

Offered the one couple whose car was closest to the fire and may have electrical issues, a lift to Belfast if they need it. But, likely their insurance company will sort that out. If the car isn't safe to drive. It's a petrol car too!

So, I won't forget this morning for a long time. When the World Service news report from a war zone, got just a bit too realistic!

Wow, some wake up.

Morning all, thanks all for the kind words of support, I know it is going to be a tough time ahead. Don’t know if I’m going to make the drinks tonight but I’ll try. Off to Surrey again shortly.

Have fun all…

Morning all, Poets day at the end of a short week perfect.

Got a call later with our Ukraine developers who have already been moved to London but all still have families our project plans seem hardly relevant

We're here for you, brother. I'd been hoping to bust out for a few beers tonight I also won't be able to make it due to needing to not get *********. Yes, I know I wouldn't have to... but I would. I'm weak like that.

Anyway, it's Friday, the sun is shining and it's expecting to keep on shining all weekend. Good.

Morning all. A morning of meetings and if nothing crops up for this afternoon, I'm off to Essex to have my first round of golf in about 4 or 5 years and meet up with some mates I've not seen since pre pandemic.

But only if work plays ball.....

Good morning everyone, lazy start to the day for me. Might pop in to London early for a mooch whilst it's still relatively quiet. Then go to a quiet pub for a quiet drink. On earlies tomorrow so can't stay late...

A very good morning to all. Karting first thing with Alex and looking at the weather his first time in the dry. Pub this afternoon with my good lady and them back home as she wants to watch the weird game with the strange shape ball.
