The boat thread - an even shorter road to financial ruin?

I don't know , I assumed all the sailors marched the whole route , he was only 18 , hadn't been in the navy long

He had a TIA about 12 months ago and now has dementia , IIRC he told me he was at the back and all the pictures are taken from the front so he's just a blur in the background in all the pictures they've found.
Might be worth having a chat with the daily and weekly newspapers that were around at the time. There's usually a number / email for photo sales. Most if not all, may've digitised their photographic archive and made it searchable.
Also, media companies like Getty Images, Shutterstock etc will have a searchable database of professional and amateur photos, taken along the route. Lastly, you could try the Royal Navy. They would've had their own photographers there, covering the event for the fleet newspaper/magazine. Apologies for stating the obvious ;)

If you are ever in Westbourne grove Bayswater, call into J H Kenyon Funeral Director’s, they did the funeral and used to have a fair number of good close up images on display (I assume they still have them).

Very handsome, that.

What do the prices start at and are they planning something smaller?
£130k on the literature that I've seen.
How about this well presented fine specimen of a boat. Great photos, clearly been well loved and looked after...........

It’s a £150k inc Vat, though engine size (and therefore cost) is variable to suit.
They make smaller yachts, but this is their only motorboat to date.

Thanks, Ewan. I was guessing 120. Their sailing yachts also look very nice but Mrs C fancies something that doesn't want to thump her around the head every 10 minutes. She married badly, clearly.

D@mn you lot; I have been looking at boats all day!

I have never had any real interest in boats/yachts/cruisers etc. but enforced changes to my planned adventure have lead to a serious rethink about options and this is not limited to alternative craft/support etc. I will keep in mind the title of this thread and it seems you can spend any amount of money either at the outset or sooner or later! All roads though it seems lead to ruin!

Clearly I should stick to cars...
