That is a beautiful car not too bad price neither, but I can spot a few items that have been glossed over, like the dash cover.

Didn't look close enough...................but if rust free....completely and just 21k verifed and documented miles.......must be a car of interest even at twice that price?....Bal....what are prices like?

I take it you're talking of the Ghibli, in which case it's not a bad price. They can only continue to go up, but not sure what they did go up to in the last price hike before the market crashed, but I remember Bora's going up to near £70-80K, so you can see how much they've dropped. I must admit I'm a little rusty on price's but I do monitor the Khamsin market and I know that the last two I know of changing hands have been around £27-28K. One of those was the green one at auction that hadn't moved in many years, so would need a lot more to re-commission.

The Indy's I've seen have been under £20K (one a left hooker), Merak's had been around the same figure, but as they rarely come up it's difficult to gauge what would be a good price. I suppose each one has to be judged on it's merits. I'll see if I can get any info on what car's have made at auctions from Classic & sportscar mag.

..easy AndyK...............as it gets to a certain age.........it becomes a liability.......................costly....and its JUST a car to the last owner....who have gotten quite old, or lacking in funds.............or.......parked up cos one item has failed and never put on the road again......!

After see that Ghibli i went to look at 6 months ago Andy yeah i can believe it , projects people start without the where withall to complete , but it is a great shame , unfortunately there money pits , cost an arm and a leg to do , and not worth mega money when done , if your doing as a hobby and a keeper for a few years , and can do a lot of the work yourself then you may just break even , if your really really lucky , thats where it pays to find a popular model in demand with good provenance then you stand a chance of coming out on top

I'm pretty sure I was told my Bora sold for around the £100k mark in the 1980's boom.

I'm also pretty sure the best cars tend not to go to auction, making the auction prices a little unrepresentative of the true market value of cars like this. I think many of the best cars get sold by word of mouth through people like Andy Heywood at McGraths or sold through the Maserati Club.

Received the Maserati Club newsletter this morning. There is a 1981 Merak SS advertised described as 'presently in need of light refurb'. Might be of interest to you guys?
