So happy with the subtle mods on my 2007 QP

Over the last few years, have made a few subtle (hopefully respectful to the marque) modifications which have been specifically done to be easily reversible and not interfere with the aesthetics of the car. I must say that I am really happy with the overall effect and cannot see me parting with this car (if funds permit), even when buying the next one.

The mods are:
  • Lamin-X dark tint film for the headlights - peels off
  • LED daytime driving lights in the lower apron grills
  • Incandescent front side-lights swapped to white LED bulbs
  • 2009+ LED tail lights with plug-n-play wiring harness (means the older lights can simply be swapped back in and no LED error codes)
  • LED license plate lights
  • Vinyl black overlay on the window chrome surrounds - peels off
  • 25% tint on back window and rear seat windows
  • Chrome surround on front grill sprayed with black Plasti-Dip which just peels off
  • Interior: Kenwood touchscreen entertainment system (hard to get the components now) which includes iPod, bluetooth, Garmin SatNav and digital TV; this plugs the Kenwood screens into the TV input of the car with a touchscreen membrane atop the car's stock screen - seamless

Here's a couple of photos I took today. I really feel the car has the best of both worlds - the classic unadulterated Maserati Pininfarina design coupled with contemporary accents.

Sounds, and looks, nice! However, I reckon the wheels would look better in gunmetal or a mid grey as the silver stands out too much against the blacked out bodywork. That would look lovely, almost sinister! Also a smaller, Italian style front number plate would, IMO, benefit the aesthetics.

Thanks and good calls Benny! Have been thinking about the mid grey wheels for a while - so may just do it. Would Italian style number plates be legal? If so do you know where could I get them?

Thanks.

No, they won't. However, I've had a small set on for a while now without problems. I keep a full size set in the boot with some fixing pads so I can replace them if I get stopped. A few guys in the SuperCarDrivers don't bother with a front number plate at all any very few have had problems. If you want to get one Google 'Showplates', that's where I got mine.

Looks lovely...The window surround in black really does bring the car up to date.....really like it on the GT S ...Your car looks far more aggressive than in did before...Love it...As Benny has said though...Grey/Anthracite wheels would really set her off.

Who did the window surround for you...or did you do it yourself....Was it easy.

Thanks Andy. The fellas that did the window surrounds were: http://www.totally-dynamic.co.uk/go/franchisees/north-london-totally-dynamic-franchisee.html. They have franchises in Leeds, Manchester, Norfolk and North/South London. They've been on for over two years and lasted really well - no signs of peeling or discolouration. I forgot to mention that they did the door handles too.

Not a fan of fiddling with the look.....but if the car can take it and you're not putting a flourescent yellow Porsche whaletail on her........;).......then it looks good and more importantly thoughtful applied and matched....well done

Yup......Andys right about the wheels........you will get done sometime with the Italian sized plate which you'd need to replace at MOT time

Welcome any suggestions Frank. Here's the colour I'm hoping to achieve. If anyone knows the colour code for the QP Sport GTS then would be grateful!

Personally I think that is too much like tkhe colour you already have. I reckon Elliot has the right idea and I would probably go for something like that. I'm pretty conservative when it comes to 'greying up' wheels but I reckon you need to go a bit darker to achieve the 'toned down stealth look'.
