Just watched a brilliant biopic of 1987 World Champion Wayne Gardner on Amazon. It's from 2021 so covers his early days through his career and battles with Freddie Spencer and Eddie Lawson on the evil handling NSR500.
Well worth a watch as there's quite a lot of things I didn't know and now going to read up in Motocourse.
IMDb give it 7.5. I'd say 9/10.

Edit: it's imaginatively called Wayne

What amazes me is that anyone can buy that bike for the same price of a decent GT Sport. It's not a super exotic Ducati Desmosedici GP with over 250 HP but a 'standard' BMW M100RR with 'only' 212 hp. Further to this, Peter Hickman isn't exactly in the same class as the current World Champion, Pecco Bagnaia, but clearly has far bigger balls.

I had a nice wee shakedown run on my BSA C15 today after rebuilding the engine following a main bearing seizure. All went well and a good day was had.

I have one exactly like that in bits in my garage. It was the first bike I ever bought, and I passed my test on it in 1979. After 44 years of ownership, I’ll have to get it back on the road. I sold my GS750 yesterday, so I have a bit more garage space to work in now. Maybe a winter project after I finish the Chevette and GPz 550.

I thoroughly recommend you get it going again Benny. Nothing puts a bigger grin on my face for just pottering about on.

A single cylinder Guzzi. Does that mean it’s twice as bad as a V twin Guzzi?

It looks like you’ve polished the **** out of the timing side! I’ve also noticed that there isn’t an oil spot underneath, which means one of two things; you’ve just parked, wiped the oil off the underneath and taken a quick snap, or the oil tank is empty and it’s about to seize. Whatever your protestations, those are the ONLY two possibilities. :D

You are of course correct, there’s one little drop from the gearbox just behind the sprocket. I completely rebuilt the engine last year after it seized and this week I fitted a new Mikuni carb. It now drives better than it did when it came out the factory.
