Froddy this is global, the US will take down everything.

The USD$ is in Huge trouble.

Start watching your pension funds. this isn’t transitory.

These people in charge haven’t got a clue.
I think right about this very minute is a good time to sell AUD. Question is.... Is USD a viable swap? Historically, I'd imagine CHF, JPY and GBP all fare well against the aussie battler during upheaval as well. UsD is probably still the mainstay. Not sure I'm keen on JPY.. Perhaps CHF or GBP worth a look.

Wattie... You think gold will hold up in the face of US inflation?

Of course it will, (buy physical) it will hold up against every currency as the race to the bottom is just getting started. Don’t sell Oz now.....you could buy gold in Oz.

Did you watch the Oz Budget! Unbelievable.
We’re in debt, but not as much as others......
Wtf.
I’ll encourage my daughter to live her life that way then........

You don’t solve a debt crisis by issuing new debt.......this has been going on for 12 years, covid has put a spanner in their works.
These feckin bankers and politicians need strung up for what’s about to go down.

I'd encourage your daughter to plan to emigrate... By then oz may be a second world country and she'll be eligible for asylum status elsewhere. Second option is to find a **** good strategy for tax minimization.... Because as night is to day, that is only 2 to 3 years down the road. However if she can prove 0.00000172‰ indigineity, she'll be fast tracked to the board of numerous public service institutions.

Yes, the budget was a predictable shambolic disgrace. Numerous policies beggar belief, defy logic and are fiscally disastrous. I love the one about helping single mothers by absolving them of the need to stump up a 20% house deposit, by requiring 2 and government guarantee for 18%. So ninja is now 'okninja'... One kid no income etc etc.

So if such a person aims for a 600k house, they need stump up only 12k. The government is directly on the hook for 108k as guarantor. Against assets paid for by my taxes. The banks will cover the rest of the risk. Blind freddy can see where this leads.... Too big too fail / moral hazard kicks in and we'll end up forgiving all housing debt. Socialise the debt after others have capitalized the profits.

If government wants to improve housing affordability there is a very, very simple way to do it. But no western government would, especially australia, where we equate increased housing worth as a sign of hard work and ingenuity.

I see cnbc running the story 'gold gains after us inflation higher than expected'. 2 weeks ago it was 'gold dragged down by concerns of runaway inflation'. In this ponzi scheme... Every event is a winner.

I see the ftse doing nicely on the us inflation numbers. Probably as well as it would have done had it been low inflation.

Everyone's a winner!!

Foibles I think you’re beginning to see the Ponzi for what it is.

Unfortunately my daughter cannot escape the Ponzi as it is now state practice.
I will however encourage her to claim indigenously ( max perks) thru her genetic entitlements.
I once consumed a meal from a Hangi.....well over 25years ago......and it was in a well. I was digging for days.

Not only did this give me and my daughter indigenous claims but I’m fairly confident of covid immunity too.I survived that....

Perhaps you can educate others as to the Ponzi around them......you’re far more eloquent than me.

The phrase “ lower/higher than expected”
Should be taken with a pinch of feck all.

Every economy is in massive amounts of debt.

FTSE is at +2 ATR on the weekly chart, and is poised for a pullback to the mean (the thick purple line) at some point. It's rare for it to hit +3 ATR ...

Eloquent? That's a new one.... Typically my colleagues refer to me as a 'vortex of negativity'!

Which gives clear indication as to how successful i am in convincing others of 'the ponz'....

Just a vortex..
I feel better already.
Anyone with any degree of sense would see through this.

it’s a Ponzi scheme.

For a start, if you can solve things by printing money,
1.
print tens of trillions....:sort it out.
2.
Why is anyone paying tax?
Just print what u need.

foibles you’re a smart guy.

you’re not wrong and I for 1 have your back.

I know there are many ways people use to judge the right stock to purchase. Old school = fundamentals. New school = technicals. 'buy the rumour, sell the news'. What you read in the AFR. What you overheard in the elevator, etc etc..

I've never really been one to focus on shareholder registries and significant shareholder notices.... But a company in which i have a small holding... CBR... Carbon Revolution, announced a new significant shareholder on Monday. After some digging, turns out that TIGA PL is actually one investment arm controlled by the daughter of Richard Pratt, rachel weislitz, estimated at $3 billion.

As a general rule, i attribute such wealthy people as having the nous to make stellar investment decisions. But on reviewing a sample of previous notices... The results of these investments has been largely.mixed, and doesn't suggest outperformance.

Oh well... Back to the night time janitor role i go...

... Installing bugging equipment in corporate boardrooms.

Chaps,

If any of you hold Bitcoin, I think it may be at an inflection point, and you need to get your stops in order.

I've recently learned about the Ichimoku cloud in technical analysis, and it can provide clarity when the other indicators paint a mixed picture. The theory is that if price drops below the "cloud", we are bearish. As you can see from the (daily) chart below, the bulls need to defend the current level to avoid a bearish reading:

Interesting, but personally, I’m not selling. There is a limited supply of Bitcoin and the exchanges are at their lowest level ever. In the crypto community you just ride out the volatility - 25% corrections are common. There is a lot of manipulation (because unlike e.g. Cardano), Bitcoin is not truly decentralised, and the whales can affect the price, but it will still continue to go up in my opinion

Totally agree with you Stindig, and I’m not suggesting that anybody should sell- apologies if I gave that impression. Price is holding support.

All I’m saying (albeit ineloquently) is that, in this volatility, it’s particularly important that people should set their parameters and stick to them - these markets are moving so fast ...

That was good of him ... !

The next few days are crucial for the integrity of the daily trend (the weekly and the monthly remain firmly bullish). The Ichomoku cloud is still showing green on the daily chart, and let’s hope it stays that way. I’ll let you know if that changes.

Short-term, the question is this: is this a period of “consolidation” or the start of a wider Dow Theory “distribution”? If I held Bitcoin as a short-term investment I’d still be holding, but with strict exit rules. If I held it as a long-term investment, I would not even consider selling ...
