So roaring down the road sounding like a tractor.....?????:battered:
Sadly, yes. Those who commented said it wasn't a sound they woul associate with an Alfa Romeo, especially one as pretty as the GT. Any talk of fuel economy, torque etc fell on deaf ears! I drove both the 2.0 petrol and diesel GTs - the diesel is the better car with that engine size. They stopped making V6s before the Blackline version was released :(

The blackline I always thought was the best looking GT looking for a great engine....

That's exactly how I feel, it would have been far easier to accept if it had been rear ended or something, knowing that the car could be repaired (albeit at huge expense) makes it more difficult:(. I'll always have fond memories of my 145, had great fun in it, did some trackdays and some good road trips, it has been totally reliable contrary to Alfa's reputation. I wanted to keep it going to at least 200000 miles, when people asked what car I had and then went on about reliability etc when I told them, it was always really satisfying to say "well, actually its done 140000 miles and has never let me down..."

I know that feeling of not wanting to let it go, it's horrible.
I had a Metallic Plum (purple to some folk) 145 QV for 13 years, and was gutted when I had to send it to the breakers yard.

Your new car is lovely though, so will be a worthy way forwards (not a replacement, just another way forward)

No, sold it to a trader friend as I didn't want the hassle of a private sale with so many d!ckheads out there wanting something for nothing. I'm not keen on letting joe public near my property.

I know what you mean, going through it with the smart, people want to hustle and i cant be bothered so i end up telling them to p1ss off....if "we buy any car" value it at 3k and i have it for sale at 4k these people come and offer 2.5k haha jokers
