Replacement wheel nuts...

Hi guys

Bought some replacement wheel nuts from Larini last year as the originals were looking a bit rough. Took forever to get them but they arrived in the end and looked really good.

However after less than a year they have all started rusting which is somewhat disappointing.

What disappoints me further is the follow up from Larini. I have been emailing David since June last year and am still awaiting the promised replacements.

Has any one else had similar issues / can propose an alternative supplier

Thanks

Thanks. Were they a custom order? Couldn't find a Maserati GT in the list (having searched for wheel bolts)

Thanks Sprout

Yikes £287 delivered. May as well order the titanium ones from Larini for another £20 and save a couple of grams

I would go for Hills myself. I wouldn’t be super happy with a titanium bolt that cheap.

To give you some idea, the carbon brake bolts are M6 bolts and the discounted rate for titanium was £55 each, minimum quantity was 36 bolts.

I’m due to place an order with Hill Engineering on a Monday. Just need their advice on size, as they are for my front wheels once the spacers are fitted.

When I dropped my calipers off at the refurb place last week they asked if I had braided pipes and I said I had some on order. He asked if they were from Hills as he had customers waiting for over a month for hoses. You may want to ask delivery times.

The standard bolt length is 58mm. Add your spacer thickness and Robert is your mother’s brother.

I thought that with stainless there wa\s the risk of sheering and "Normal" bolts were best?

It’s all about the grade of steel used and how it is treated. If, for example, a stainless steel bolt has a cut thread it will be significantly weaker than one with a cold rolled thread. Both stainless and titanium are more susceptible to fatigue cracking (a damaged titanium bolt would be positively dangerous). Mild steel will generally have a higher yield strength than stainless, but properly made and treated, the difference is minimal. Going back to the brake disc bolts, there were precision rolled threads for ultimate strength.
