Question of the day

We must be looking at Captain James Cook, HMS Endeavour was originally a merchant ship called Earl of Pembroke
We have a winner
Pembroke became Endeavour
Rockingham became Adventure and
Granby became Resolution
Some discussion about Cook being Captain or Commander or whatever, but still the head honcho.

OK, another one on a similar theme you will know or you won't

Anson, Howe, and Rodney never existed but the other in this grouping did what or who was it?

Nelson? If I remember my Airfix kits properly HMS Nelson was a new class of battle cruisers but money/interest ran out and even Nelson was curtailed at the stern, shortened and looked very odd.

I thought it was a Badger but now the omnivore answer has been introduced maybe they are that. Sure I have heard the question in a quiz and don't remember it as being one of those QI questions
