I must agree with Loz on this. If a car (or anything in this world!) is priced competitively you often need to move quickly. I think the trouble with rare cars like Maserati's is that people are buying with their heart rather than their head more often than not. If someone is vaguely interested in a car and is deliberating but not pulling the trigger they can often be poked into action by interest from another party. I would imagine car dealers find customers for Maserati's (i.e. those prepared to make sensible offers) to be like buses. They don't see one for ages then 2 or 3 come along at the same time!

Good luck Cobra. Don't give up the search. A QP at around 20k is a heck of a lot of car for the money in my book - especially now that history proves they are more than capable of managing 100k miles if looked after. Good examples in popular colour combo's below 20k are always going to be in demand.

No, very pessimistic! I am currently getting 23mpg in the 4.7: much better than I had expected when I bought it. Admittedly I am not driving flat out everywhere, just doing efficient enjoyable driving, and I do very little stop-start in heavy traffic. These cars are no more thirsty than any comparable big-engined petrol saloon like Jags etc, and so much more interesting. You won't regret it.

Heavy Drinkers we are...!!!
Michael, what do you get from yours to a gallon?

My comment was a bit tongue-in-cheek.

It seems mad to be talking about mpg on a Maserati forum but here goes. I have seen 26 mpg from it on a motorway with cruise set at illegal speeds - which I think is b00dy great, only 4 mpg shy of my best result from my 166 which had half the horses and a lighter body. 1,700 miles London to the Western Isles return, not sparing the horses, returned 22 mpg overall - again I think that is bl00dy brilliant.

Yeah if I was concerned with mpg I wouldn't be buying one and wouldn't be driving an Alfa ether. !

Agree with Michael - fuel consumption has been a pleasant surprise for me too. If you are preparing yourself for 14 MPG I don't think you will be disappointed CT.

As has been said many times on here before, buying one of these vehicles is definitely heart rather than head in terms of justification...! But, you can't put a price on smiles !!
