Potential new owner

I'd like to introduce myself as a possible new owner of a 2005 4200 this is depending on the buyers report that will be carried out by Emblem on Wednesday, its metallic black with burgundy/black seat combination. Having just sold my near 400bhp RX7 which I used for the occasional trackday and possibly also sold my Subaru SVX. Until trying the 4200 I very nearly bought a facelift Mercedes Benz CL 55 AMG a 500 bhp supercharged job but really liked the power delivery of the paddle shift 4200 so have more or less decided that this is the car for me.

Thanks for the welcome, I've also read somewhere that there is a modification that lowers the car. If all goes well I'll keep it standard until I settle in to it then perhaps look to up the power.
Just checked the link thats a proper dyno that doesn't flatter.

Of course....................but...am sure you could delay getting the DMS up-grade to a date that suits and still take advantage of this super offer......but.....whatever you find best suits!

It's called a spanner! The shocks are adjustable so you can bring the car down, I had mine lowered by 15/20mm, changed the car completely (in conjection with FD spings). Hope it all works out, they are marvellous cars :)

It may also need a geo, they usually do.

Ah for some reason I thought the suspension system was an ABC one like on the CL and was lowered by electronic means

B1RMA, with Skyhook fitted the suspension is firmed up electronically by the Sport button but the spring platforms are threaded so the ride height can be adjusted manually from underneath the car. Good choice of car, you'll love it. I do.

Thanks for clearing the suspension thing up, thats the good thing about forums there was me thinking the 4200 had a system similar to the CL and in an instant I now know better. Yes safrane after the advice on there I decided it would be unwise not to spend the money on a check, nothing ruins new ownership of a car more than thinking you know better than the experts and not getting it checked out.

Hi B1RMA and welcome to the forum. Do let us know how things progress with the inspection? Hope it gives you the confidence to take the plunge. You won't regret investing in a Trident. Awesome machines.

Cheers, Em.

I have spent a bit of time going through the various sections in this forum relating to the 4200 (and very useful too) one point I did notice was an advisory on the last MOT about excessive wear on the inside of passenger side front wheel is this a cause for concern?

Probably needs a GEO (alignment check ) these cars are prone to potholes , and unless corrected will wear the tyres on the inner edge , i get mine geo 'd every year £80 a time , plus i supply the shims ( you will need these if adjustment is required ) reasonably cheap for a whole set from eurospares

regards loz

Thought as much many of the RX7 guys who race and trackday thier RX7's swear by Wheels in Motion so I guess a visit may be in order. I still keep thinking the 4200 has active suspension and must get it out of my head.
