When I had my 1600E and MK1 Capri we lifted crossflow motors out by hand :)
Same with my Spitfire when that had a new engine. The new gearbox I carried home from Hounslow in a sports bag via tube and train. For safety, I left the bag in the aisle of the train rather than putting it on the overhead rack. The wise guy that decided to kick the bag out of his way had a surprise. "What the ***'s in there?" "A gearbox." "."

Not many cars where the gearbox comes out from inside the car but the Spitfire and Moggy Minor are the ones I've done.

One thing to be said in their favour is their use of old (different) buildings.
I've been in a few over the years but one that springs to mind is in Stafford. An old cinema which makes for a much different feeling inside :).
That one is amazing and packed to the rafters with some very young top totty
It was that good we voted to leave before one of us got arrested!
Great choice of beer / whiskey and gin

Some years ago I watched a TV cop show set in the 1960s, the opening shot with morris minors parked outside a police station had cameras like that in it

A bit further on 2 detectives were talking under a river bridge and there was a cctv camera right between them, I turned off after that because my head wasn't in the 60s any more, I was just looking for modern stuff in the shot

I was on holiday in Salcombe 30 odd years ago. They were filming Poirot and they came out first thing in the morning and covered all the double yellows with rubber mats.

'Withnail & I' was filmed in 1986 and set in 1969, in one scene the knackered old Mk2 Jag they used is driving along and there's a Mk3 Escort behind it. 'Quadrophenia' is set in 1964 and was filmed in 1979, in one scene there's an Inter-City 125 HST in the background, they weren't introduced until 1976!
