It's the gearbox cooler, it has bent back on the bracket and the oil pipes (return and delivery) have been detached from the cooler. Fix is to bend the bracket back to original position, remove the cooler, reweld the pipe connectors, reattached pipes and then fill with 75W90 GL5 oil.

Oil cooler rewelded back on the car and gearbox oil changed using Comma 75W90 GL-5, much smoother change now. I reckon it's been done once max. Whilst doing it remove the Gearbox filter too from the side, it will have some silicon around it but don't worry just clean it off.

The oil cooler used is from a KTM Motorbike!

Not a bad turnaround considering the car was only low loaded at midday yesterday.

Good stuff. At least it was a relatively painless repair. Had you not noticed it could have been much worse.

Does the oil filler cap also contain the filter as per the coupe?

On the gearbox? No, the filler is a 22mm bolt head near the top and the filter is on the side of the box as pictured above with the finger resting on it.

Ah yes...looks similar to the 4200 one...that was revised as the older version would split like a top off a bottle after a couple of changes.

Looks like it's the same filter as on the 4200. They are a sod to get out without breaking and stupidly expensive to buy, £40 from memory.

Nice fix though well done.

:)

It's one of my favourite words from the Italy Unpacked tv programs, with chef Giorgio Locatelli (Maserati driving chap) describing a dish as 'Onctueuse...'. His pronunciation is fantastic, making the word last for ages :)

Means more like creamy/smooth in cooking, but you're probably closer for Phil :D

Let's go with creamy smooth. He's had enough problems so far. Hope he appreciates it.
