Does anyone have any recommendations for an ODBII reader for the 4200? Nothing massive as yet, but just thinking it might come in handy in future. I know there are plenty around on eBay etc, so may just pick one.

TIA

I got an Android phone and put the Torque app on it. That, with a plug in Bluetooth OBD module I got off E bay is all I need. It allows you to clear certain minor snags but it tells you what the fault is and you can seek Indie advice as to whether it should modify your driving style.

I just picked one from e-bay and it seems to do the job ok. £19.95. Red, but I can't remember the name on the front. Shows error codes and lets me clear them for non-serious stuff, but doesn't know the manufacturer specifics, as you would guess for that money.

I recently sent of an enquiry to Formula Dynamics about their Maserati OBDII reader. Jeff said they are developing a new design and didn't have any of the old ones in stock. He didn't give me an ETA on the new model. Just thought I'd share if you were thinking of going down the FD route.

Thanks, all. Didn't even know that FD did one :)

I'll have a look at the BT ones on ebay I think.

i got a £20 ELM reader off e-bay and used ODBII diag software for my laptop, I think, but i also have a hand held one which I keep in the car for emergencies (which thankfully have not happened in a while!) they all give you codes and generally will clear them too. you wont get a listing telling you what the Maserati special codes are , or indeed any of the funky setup functions the garage has access to with the SD2 and SD£ testers, but its useful just the same. I also keep a note pad in the car and any error codes are logged and dated before clearing, this is important or you loose the info on what is going on.

Sorry for bumping this up but does the paid Torque app (rather than the lite version) reset the Airbag light?

Hi having read the messages on code readers, does anyone have experience of the unidiag software for early 3200

i had an airbag light come on out of the blue ....the guys at Autoshield instinctively said it was the airbag isolator switch ....swapped it for £20 and hey presto airbag light out. its a well known fault and the boys at autoshield didnt think the OBD reader would clear it anyway.

with UNIDIAG itself one cannot acces airbag, but with kwp71.exe one can (but i think its readonly). However Airbag interaction is possible with dnEcuDiag

I've downloaded the dnEcuDiag and had a play but I can't seem to get it to work, I am using a V.A.G-COM cable which work well with the SEAT using VCDS Lite software. Anything I'm doing wrong?

I think I may be getting something soon. If the passenger airbag switch is failing on my 4200, I'll want to reset the warning light after replacement.
Still it's only gone off once, so far. According to Paul at Bill McGrath they never self reset.

I don't think so. The 4200 uses a different ECU to the early 3200s and is compatible with OBD2 rather than KWP2000. I think you need an OBD2 compatible cable instead.
