Not only has he the originals Maserati birdcage/250F, but exact re-creation copies of the originals which are the ones he shows around and occasionally races , i have met the guy who built the recreations tho its steeped in secrecy ( now ive put it out on here) when JC was driving the 250F on top gear that was one of the re-creations

The Bamford collection is probably one of the best collections in the UK , Sir Antony also good friends with Nick Mason he also has re-creations of most of his prized and valuable beauties, whats £120K for a recreation when the real one is worth millions due to its provenance and rarity

Great to see them in the UK....plus seeing a recreation doing the business on the road/track once in a while!

I had the pleasure of looking after the 512S and the Birdcage amongst much other fine machinary at the Classic NEC (think it was 2001) for the MAserati / Ferrari Owners Club stand and later at Silverstone whilst working on the 512S again I got chatting to the man himself; such a nice guy to talk to and very understated, in fact I didn't realise it was hime untill well into the conversation (I was absorbed in the car and not the conversation). He later invited me to 'work on the collection'.... OMG It s jaw aching to just be amongst those machines!

Makes complete sense. Thankfully people like NM exist not least for the music (Animals is my favouite and to put my age into context my father did not mind me playing a tape of Dark Side of the Moon in his Rover SD1) but also for preserving motoring heritage rather than putting the money into another super yacht.

Bob, could not have put it better myself, hats off to the fella. I am sure if you saw him in the street, he sounds like the sort of guy who would only be too happy to talk you round the car.
