I went to that dealer last Friday with a view to possibly buying a GT - but ended up thinking hard about a California instead. The way Ferrari/Maserati sort their finance deals makes the Ferrari cars more attractive. As a guide, the monthly payments on £100k F may be the same as an £80k M. Because they give the F a higher residual value - which is fair enough when you consider that a 4200 can be had for not much more than £10k these days.

As it is, I think I'm now leaning towards a 612. I compared a £60k F 612 and a £60k M GTS and the F simply makes more sense - faster, rarer, cheaper on finance...

Sorry - this is probably the wrong forum to be saying this!!! But don't panic, I'll still be keeping at least 1 Maser in the stable no matter happens.

All makes sense as you are comparing older Ferraris' with newer Maseratis'. The F cars are thus further down their depreciation curves so will have higher percentage residuals. On the same basis a £100k Ferrari would be cheaper than a new, £80k, 911.

So update time. Not happy with Maranello as a dealer at all.

Car will be in until next week. They have to wait for Maserati to agree to fix everything under warranty despite the faults being there on delivery.

NIT unit replacement
Airbag fault
Cam cover gasket leaking
Parking sensors (now fixed)
Wheel alignment (fixed by broadway tyres)
Spare key doesn't work

Response from Maranello, we've spent a fortune on that car, can't understand why you are not happy!

No follow up from initial complaint. No response to emails.

Won't be going back there.

Thats a real shame.....Can not believe their responce......I would take it to Dick Lovett......Great dealer to deal with and I'm sure you wouldn't get the same service as above.

Went the same route for a while.....toss up between new GTS or 09 reg 612. After driving the GTS for half a day and then using the 612 it was obvious to me how old tech the 612 is. Servicing every 6k, belts, clutches etc etc plus 8 to 10 to the gallon around town killed the 612 for me. Depreciation has now slowed to a crawl but put big miles on one and you will have to keep it for life.

Went for a California in the end, great car and it will eat a 430 in a drag race plus has a good size boot....win...win

In effect Steve, this car should not have been let off the forecourt......how quickly did things become apparent?

The evening I picked it up on the airbag light and the wheel alignment, the rest next day.

Update as of an hour ago, the MD of the group has taken the BMW loan car away and replaced it with a BRAND NEW GranCabrioSport!!!!!!!

Mucho's appologies etc, not how we do business, etc etc.

Upshot is they are moving heaven and earth to sort this out now.

Wonder if they read the forum??

Sounds like somebody's read something or been given a rocket up their backside.

The measure of a company is often how they deal with a problem. Customers often feel better towards a company that has done a great job of fixing a problem than if there had never been a problem in the first place.

Good stuff, and an impressive level of service. Nice to see that they can do it, shame they didn't remember to be service-oriented a bit sooner. But heck, they're clearly doing it now.

Anyway, you want to hope this crappy bloody weather clears off so you can get the roof down! It's snowing here now!
