Done a few bits and bobs with him in the elise and bmw. Have yet to take the maser down to North Weald yet though, something thats going to have to be done. Be interesting to see what he thinks about safe tyre pressures.

When I did North Weald in the Elise, my two friends who where in a 996 GT3 and M3 he had the tyre pressures at max tyre rating so not to scrub out the edges of the tyres. The Elise buying light normal pressures, as you will know.
I guess the Maser will want max high pressure on the concrete, and then back down to normal for the track.

He tends to want them pumped up if theyre very low profile. Not sure if it's sidewall scrub or rim grounding out that he's worried about - care to ask him? I never care too much about sidewall scrub, maybe I should!

i know they would probably be fine but at the thaught of what COULD go wrong im not sure id put 12 year old tyres on my car?

I've nearly killed them at Blyton Park driver training day, so won't be going on the new rims.
However I think as the car has been garaged all its life, its not had 12 years of UV light, and no sidewall cracks.

Still will have dried out, Mike. Not as fast, granted, but very much I'd have thought time expired.

The consensus view seems to be replace at 10 years. If they're more than 6 years, don't start using them.

Probably pessimistic, though.

After a lot of tinkering I have got to the point where I am happy with the spyder. The last piece of the puzzle went on today; thanks to Maf and Mike I too am the proud owner of a set of Formula Dynamic wheels. They are 18" and came in white but I got them redone in Satin gunmetal and, in the 'flesh', they look superb. They do not protrude beyond the top edge of the wheel arch and give the car a squat, chunky and much more aggressive look. Judge for yourselves.

The actual colour is a couple of shades lighter but i-pads aren't great at reproducing colours

To confirm they don't protrude out too far.

A very nice dish giving a better stance.

Same on the front.

Wheels done. Tick. Exhaust done. Tick!

Even Marios liked them, so they must be good!!

Blimey I haven't got my black FD wheels yet!.....being picked up tomorrow night though, can't wait.
Have you just swopped over your original tyres or fitted new ones?
Glad they don't protrude, was a little concerned.

I was going to replace the tyres but they are absolutely fine with lots of tread left. May go up to 275s but not sure. Might leave them at 265. I'll have a think.

My tyres are 12 years old and well trashed following my driver training day so I'm going to fit FD's recommend 245/275.

Oh somebody has been flashing the cash haven't they Ian.

Very nice. They fill the arches better and I was never a fan of the OEM alloys you had.

Thumbs up from me!

I prefer the later 7 spokes to the originals but they still look a little dated. I've been looking for a set for a while but all my planets lined up and 'hey presto' here we are. Just got to get the front seats re-coloured next month and I'm done tinkering. Hopefully, thereafter just consumables and servicing. Fat chance!
