Here are mine from 4 years ago.
Just rear larini's from stock.
At the wheel figures too.
...you beat me by 1.4 BHP!!
They certainly appear to be consistent engines delivering what they claim.
Would however nice to see figures from a US spec exhaust manifold equipped car though for comparison.

Which leads me to believe the FD RR results are to be taken with a pinch of salt. Having been in John's motor and seeing Mike's results I can't imagine all the others cars as running 430-450 as standard.

Must be because you drive like Miss Daisy Maverick. She's not even brown in yet.

Dynos are very subjective, you cannot really compare like for like unless they were on the same machine under the same conditions. Ballpark figures are looking good though.

Agreed, it all depends on calibration. From my motorbike days Performance Bikes always used the same dyno which gave a good comparison between bikes, even down to atmospheric pressure and air temperature.

What I meant was mine and Mav's were done on same dyno (granted different day/year) but the forum ones where they recorded silly figures (425-450 on standard 42's) were done on a DMS rolling road.

Interesting , I would be surprised if you can get 420 -450 hp out of these but happy to be proven wrong .To be fair he only did 2 runs as the car wasn't planned to go on he just fitted me in . But Iam happy with the results good strong engine with figures which match the manufactures .

DMS remapped car, 398 before the map (spyder) and this after.

Is over 10% increase reasonable, due to mapping only....
Personally, i'm not convinced.
Regarding my figures that represent stock expected figures, on the day I was last on the rollers with my mate with his 997 Turbo, that also made expected stock figures.
Before were all Alfa's for I was invited by the Alfa Club. Nearly all did not make stock figures interestingly so it made my figures quite reassuring as been realistic and not inflated.

I would expect a semi-modern Italian engine to put out at least 100 bhp per litre. Therefore 420+ isn't, IMO, outrageous.

No, but a 10% increase due to altering the squirting fuel injectors, and not turning up any boost if turbo charged, I feel is unrealistic.

It's all a compromise at best, it would be easy for the manufacturers to map them for 450 plus I would think, but then they would have to only offer 3 months warranties out the box!

You can only map for the amount of air that can be drawn into the combustion chamber by the piston falling when normally aspirated.
So gaining an extra 50BHP needs more air and fuel, how is it going to get the air without any mechanical alterations?
It can't.

It is also mapped for reliability, so seldom the max possible. Hence all the remapping facilities.

Just jump to 6:30 in, but worth watching it all.

Thanks Mike. Nice watch. Steve Dinan is obviously a clever and knowledgeable man. You can tell they have spent many hours on tuning.

Looks like a need a little petrol turbo in my life. Maybe a twin!

He did look annoyingly smug throughout though! ;)

He did. However I like confidence bordering right up to the point of arrogance without hitting arrogant. It is a fine line.

A modern 3200cc twin turbo V8 engine nowadays would push out way over of 500hp..

So the old school engined 3200GT should be well able for a reliable 430hp or so with a little more boost and fuelling.. and don't forget compered to normal modern high performance cars there fairly light too!

"A typical BMW engine will gain between 15 and 20bhp between race gas and pump gas... on a standard tune"

Interesting, glad he's put that one to bed :D Catman can now keep quiet at the back!
