I received a notification last night from Facebook, one of the guys I used to work with had a terrible moment, aquaplaned in the rain, the results speak for themselves.
Have not had a chance to speak to him yet so dont have the full details but safe to say I think its a write off. He is fine. Just a bit shook up.
Think he has had it 2 months,11705244_10206484502767735_1160919842486403518_n.jpg11813239_10206484503087743_6934614384573301983_n.jpg11822770_10206484502407726_1645963113111182597_n (1).jpg11822770_10206484502407726_1645963113111182597_n (1).jpg11825816_10206484502327724_4958713437248887027_n.jpg11836691_10206484502687733_4472274394463406365_n.jpg

Never nice to see, hope your mate's ok.

With that crease in the roof I'd imagine it would be written off.
That said, the cables clearly did their job and for that I'm sure he's grateful for small mercies.

Ouch! Poor sod. I hope he's very much ok.

There's a patch of fast dual carriageway round here where the fast lane almost always gets about an inch or so deep in heavy rain. The GTS hates it. Those fat tyres are hopeless. I slow right down and use the slow lane.

Holy sh*t.....that's a lucky (and near) escape. Hope your mate is ok.

Something very similar happened to a cousin few years ago, his brand new 911 Turbo aquaplaned and he ended up hitting a tree. Considering the speed he'd been doing, it was a miracle he survived.

He is okay, like he said very lucky to walk away unscathed. As an ex motorcycle rider I have always been terrified of those wire central reservations.

The thing is it doesn't need to be deep water. Just being wet can dramatically change the gripiness of a piece of road.

Adam, have you ever powered up Balkerne Hill in the wet? It's like glass!

Amazing that he walked away ok from that, good job the car was so well built and didn't cave in on him - he's a lucky boy

Glad your friend is ok and a real shame about the car. Those barriers scare the life out of me as a biker. It's very fortunate he wasn't in a cabriolet of some sort or it may have been a lot worse.

Bloody ****.....glad he is OK.....the barrier may have done its job but that could have been shocking the way it's creased the roof.....not the best crash barriers....

Sad to see a Trident end up this way. Glad no one was hurt. Assuming it was insured , he can soon start looking for a replacement.

That's painfully to see however those central wires look like they have been designed to mame and kill people rather than preventing accidents.

Any reason not to use standard rails or concrete blocks?
I must say that of all the countries I have driven so far I never saw that kind of guard wire

Yes. The wires slow vehicles down more gently than hard and solid concrete and steel

At the end of the day a car is a bit of tin.
They can be replaced. A person can't.

Glad he's ok.

That rear tyre doesn't look all that clever: might be worth removing those photos...

Im always chicken in the rain when driving the Masers...55-60 mph max. Glad he's ok...but will make me even more cautious.

wow, that is scary...

how fast was he going? do you know if he had the sports mode on or off as that affects the traction/MSP quite a bit I believe.

glad no one hurt but certainly a wake up call for all.

+1, looks thin. Mind the P Zero regularly looks like it has less tread on that it measures IMHO.

Agree with safrane about any powerful RWD car in the wet. I only risk Sport in dry or damp conditions and temps above 5c but I only then drive the car in Manual mode which gives more control.

My mate put them on Facebook. I am sure he would not be driving if the tyres were not right. He races bikes and is fastidious about everything being right. I will get some details of him tomorrow.
