Such a shame Maserati are so poor in this respect. Continually shoot themselves in the foot in terms of retaining customers and brand loyalty. Porsche has this totally nailed, and means many who buy a 911 for example as their ultimate sports car, move on to owning one of their SUVs/saloons alongside or as a replacement when family needs demand it. I love the V8 GT so much I’ll take the ownership risk but would never consider a more mundane (high margin for Maserati) runaround even if I liked the look of one (and even though I love the brand). Cayennes and Mecans pay for 911 development, won’t be the same for Maserati.

Might be worth having a chat with James Pumo/owner of eurospares , see what his take on it might be , perhaps a collaboration in part , do we have a general idea Matt of a few other parts in demand , if its worth it i'll arrange a meeting with him

Excuse the silly question, but.....

Has anyone tried dismantling the wheel bearing "unit" to get to the actual bearing that will inside the two flanges? Surely there will be a standard SKF RS type bearing buried somewhere inside the unit. It didn't grow there!

Not silly, but the way the are manufactured means that you'd destroy it, pulling it apart. Search for threads on this very topic by our more learned members a few years ago

Can another abs sensor be fitted somehow? And leave the bearing alone?

As Mad is pointing out there is a serious problem with parts at the moment though out all maserati cars .
I am sure slowly this will be resolved but expect all prices to increase again .

That's not a bad idea, group buy from major suppliers, garagistes and GT owners (each buying one) should be able to come up with the moolah.

Believe it or not, there isn’t seperate bearing in there, the outer race is part of the body and the inner of the hub. The hub itself is formed over at the to prevent dismantling and this is the part which is magnetised for the sensor ring.

The same for many F cars and the Coupe / GS. I expect Ferrari / Maserati own the IP for the design so an order direct to SKF would be rebuffed.

In Porsche Post in May…. If Only….

IMG_2958.jpeg

“Adding to its remarkable inventory of original spare parts, Porsche Classic is now offering a new magnesium crankcase for classic 911 models built between 1968 and 1976…….

"This reissue closes another gap in our range of spare parts, making it possible to build completely new engines for most classic 911 models," says Ulrike Lutz, Director of Porsche Classic”

I should have thought the IP would have expired , would be worth checking , how you go about that im not sure , most IP last for 10 years usually from what i understand

Im sure if you took one to a market in downtown Kabul or Kandahar you would most definitely get them to make you one for £2.14 shillings and 6 pence , they make rather good copies of most guns including very good models of an AK47 which i might add is a damm site stronger lol a bearing for a Masser should be a breeze
