At least that is the case in the UK where the Stradale has a pair of central exit pipes, quite close together, and the sport/MC-Shift/GT/GTS all exit towards the corners of the rear bumper and therefore have more curvature to the pipework before reaching the boxes
I'm changing out the rear corsas in the next week, prior to a shredding on the track first week January. I'll snap the exhaust spaghetti then so we can compare notes.

I, very vaguely, seem remember checking eurospares part numbers, and they were quite universal to the regular mc shift part #. But, there again, there are many parts, that in practice are quite different to the standard bits.

I think for road cars the Maserati wins the best v8 sounding engine. But there are other cars that sound good for the v10 and v12 engines category.
Although I really loved the sound of my GT, it’s not as pure a sound to me as many other v8s. I think many Ferrari V8s sound better imho. The f430 and 458 for starter are without a doubt better sounding when the valve is open.
The 355 is also an amazing sounding machine. The f40 was also an awesome sounding v8 despite the turbo charge element.
Again - it might just be personal preference

That’s what my car sounds like :)

I've completed a GT to Strad conversion, which was re working the rear pipes for the central exhaust. I don't see how the stradale mufflers can fit a GT, from where they sit, also the stradale rear boot step is completely different to factor in the central exhaust.

I think Maserati just nail the v8 exhaust note better than Ferrari in my opinion. I think thats one of the Maserati's appeal is the sound, even though outright performance might be less than some of the Ferrari v8 cars the sound is better. Its because of the cross plane crankshaft in maserati's v8 and v8 twin turbo that they are able to do this. As well as Maserati's exhaust work.

Afternoon all

Does anyone have a sense as to the exhaust modifications/custom exhaust this owner has undertaken on his Stradale (Japanese based) as it sounds pretty impressive! It sounds different to the Larini/X-Pipe upgrades undertaken by some Strad owners on here unless I'm mistaken?

Various (copied over verbatim) comments on the specifics have accompanied the videos which, given my total lack of technical expertise (!), don't make a lot of immediate sense to me I am afraid…..so any expert view would be appreciated :)
  • I made it with 70mm(about 2.75in) diameter(Φ) straight piping.
  • I use sus304 stainless with t1.5(1.5mm). About 0.059 inch
  • I made same length headers and installed metal catalysts to erase dirty sound and made long length center pipe with not much thickness to avoid cracking sound and adjust best back pressure for high performance
  • Custom header was made by Technical Garage Sasaki (Brilliant) and front and center were made by J-wolf with my original idea.
  • I made same length headers, 300 cell metal catalysts on both side on front pipe and one long length center piping (70mm) . Rear is used stock.
  • I made same length headers and use 300 cell metal catalysts(150〜200cell would be ok). Made one long length center pipe about 60inch with a little thinner than stock to make back pressure and higher tone. So this Mc is much faster than stock exhaust
  • ...
  • .and clarification/same detail from another video...
    • Exhaust headers: Same length headers diameter : 42mm (1.65in)
    • Front Pipes:2 metal catalysts (300cell.200cell is also fine). Pipe diameter : 60mm(2.36in)
    • X-pipe : One long pipe. Pipe diameter:70mm(2.75in)
    • Rear:Stock

No idea... but if I did that to mine the neighbor's would torch it and I suspect the GF would leave or at least refuse to ever travel in it.

Doesn’t sound particularly different to my ear, but it’s certainly on the loud side. Anyone who has tried to have a conversation next to Matts car when it is idling will know the Larini cats with an x-pipe is on the fruity side.

Yep, pretty much sounds the same as mine - fruity!

Sounds identical to my 2 seat Strad.

If you want a quieter Strad, you can get one. It comes with seats in the back.
Ewan, I did not appreciate that seats made a difference to the exhaust note! Thanks for sharing
