Been there. Bikes especially do that to a man. Once a biker, always a biker. It's a disease... :)

I last owned a bike in 2008 , a bandit 1200 , not agile enough for sports bikes these days , I sold it in October with the intention of getting another in the spring but never did

I do like the idea of a triumph scrambler though

As for the OPs dilemma, if you can afford it buy it, life really is too short to not do the things you can afford to do

I too was a biker, my last being an Aprilia RSV1000R. I now have a neck problem which precludes me from wearing a crash helmet even though I still have 4 bikes (2 built and 2 in pieces, waiting to be built). It'll be a shame if I never get to ride them.

My last road bike was my 76 Kawasaki Z1000 which I had for many years and sold it in 2010 just before prices rocketted like everything else I have owned.

Did you buy it?

In a manner of speaking. Let's just say that getting the deposit back took some effort. Still, all's well that ends well.

Happily I can't afford the alternatives that I'm drooling over on PH at the moment. Oh, and there's little that will ever match a Maser for noise, beauty and presence. I took mine out for a spring thrash yesterday. Started first turn of the key and drove like a dream.

Still a convertable Iain...........

I would ideally like a convertible.
But there is a potential for a coupe that's almost too good to be true and suits my needs.
I potentially need car counselling as I know for sure thats it's unnecessary but I can't help myself.

Hmmmmnnn - not sure about this to be honest. Experienced a Yamaha FZR1000 at 150+ mph on the A414 towards Harlow once upon a time. Nice straight-ish road, and sure it was fast, but involved, sorry no. Was more a case of hanging on to a big lump and it left me a bit cold.

Spend a weekend in A and E and see a couple of bikers- it would put you
Off for life...

GranCabs do absolutely nothing for me ... sorry!

Each to their own and rightly so. However, an Italian friend has just acquired a rather sexy GC and he'd chop your legs off, as soon as look at you, for dissin' the GC.

Note to self - must stop thinking like Tony Soprano!

Fair comment. I think Stephen Fry was talking about a Doctor friend of his in the US where bikers were referred to as donors. I do think, however, 4 wheels give a more involved driving experience.

This thread has really confused me.

That's not terribly difficult though ;)

I am an ex-biker. It was fun. Nearly more fun than it's possible to have with your clothes on. Problem number one is how long it takes to put those clothes on.....

Iain was looking at Grancab MC and Aston Vantage so not just Maserati.

I never used to like the Grancab but they have grown on me and in the right colour they are really appealing...Needs to be the Sport though.

I like the look of the GranCab I just think that, with its minuscule boot, its impractical for anything other than posing in.

Moved onto older/classic bikes. More fun at 50mph on the right road than 150 on a rocketship.
Don't spend your time looking for cameras and buy Italian and you will have more "involvement" than you would imagine just be sure you carry spare plugs and fuses. ;-)
