Honest question, as this is nearly a 15yr old car that has been largely sitting could the engine water damage the cylinder head ?

Unlikely , but any sensible buyer would make sure recommissioning is agreed as part of the sale by an independent, needs a thorough going over , I would insist by endoscope down the bores etc, all bushes/belts checked/changed etc

When I was a teenager (1980s), I was lucky enough to have a ride in a Kyalami and a Khamsin. I’ll never forget the owner telling me that the alloy block engines need to be run as regularly as possible and brought up to temperature before hard use or switching off.

It was one of those comments which stuck with me all my life. Similar to when a girlfriend showed me how she folded her socks together and now I can’t sleep if my socks aren’t stored that way.

Can anyone in the know tell me if I have been wasting my time? Can you let an engine sit untouched for ages and expect it to be ok?

Well not using them for extended periods is deffo not good for them and leads to issues for sure. I have hardly used mine in the last two years and now the locks are sticking, the top end ticks (probably loose plugs), the plastics are all super sticky (possibly just an age thing) and lots of other niggly stuff like a poor response off idle that needs an Italian tune up!

Socks don't keep me awake though....

Customer of mine sold a GranSport Spyder in totally new condition for a similar price a few weeks ago, although a bit more unique spec than this.

Im very pleased that mine is now worth at least £40k and no service gaps :)

Have to say its a stunning looking car though. I think red really suits the car. I have been to VVS and their showroom is a proper automotive sweetshop!

@Spartacus' GS is red. I imagine if he ever put it up for sale he'd be beating them off with a ****** stick, but might start to weaken around the £60k mark.

This thread has got me thinking...

How are you supposed to fold your socks? I've been making pairs into a small ball, is this correct or is there some other life hack way of doing it?

51 and still learning about life...

It's bad enough that my three 4 cylinder cars all have different firing orders.

Now I find out I've been folding my socks the wrong way...o_O

What a lovely car in one of the best colours. It’s a shame more owners who bought new weren’t a bit more adventurous with colours on their Maseratis instead of the sea of blacks and greys..
