If you look at the new price of the GT S at circa £95k and a Strad @ circa £110k there is obviously a £15k difference. However a used 2011 GT vs a 2011 Strad seems to be circa £20k difference or more. You can quote rarity and all that tosh but the better VFM car is the GT S. If the GT S falls further south the Strad will surely have to follow. If it didn't who would buy a Strad at £50k when a GT S was £25k? We all know the Strad is a lovely thing but it isn't twice the car.
Yes it is. It’s not about common sense. A GTS is 95% of a Stradale for sure, and an excellent car no doubt. But it’s not a Stradale and that 5% will always be the difference that matters. See the MCV for more.
Perhaps a better example to demonstrate this is the F430 and the 16M Scuderia or the 360M and the Challenge Stradale. Both are worth sometimes over twice their “normal” brothers. Rarity, rawness, that Je Ne Sais Pas that can’t be described is everything that a discerning buyer wants and that makes all the difference.
If Maserati only raced the Trofeo cars beyond their own series, the Stradale could be worth more.
Honestly, when I compare the value of a Stradale against a low volume Ferrari, I can’t believe how cheap they are. And the GTS being now sub 30k is frankly criminal.
Yes it’s all relative but when a base 911 costs 85k before any options, our cars are criminally undervalued. If only Maserati could market better!
