kitchen tap pipe issue

I'm in need of some advise...

I am having a new kitchen fitted. The tap is getting fitted on 30mm worktop, which is on top of a 15mm sink.

The tap is a boiling water tap and the two fixing/mounting rods also double as cold water feeds - these are normally solid, but on this tap, they double as water feed pipes.

My builder has pointed out the fixing pipes are too short for the worktop and sink thickness, it needs to be min 3cm, but ideally around 5cm longer.

The end which attaches to the tap (with the rubber ring) looks like a 1/16" NPT - seems this is a very unusual size...

The middle section for the fixing nut is 1/8" BSP - not normal plumbing size...

The end for the water connection looks like a HEP2O

Changing the worktop and sink is not an option.

Any advice on how to lengthen this? The manufacturer has told me they can't help and doesn't know the specs.

I was thinking of cutting the 1/8" section about 2cm from the top of the threads, then buy an extension (from china) and a female/female coupler - this does not seem ideal though. I cannot imagine there is anywhere which could make one for a decent price.

Your quoted sizes appear tiny, are they correct? If it was me, and not seeing the sink or worktop I would try and see if I could fit them without cutting, maybe enlarge the sink hole so it clamped only on the worktop? To extend them as you suggest then cutting them in the part below to tap o ring would be best , but would be leak prone and would the coupling fit in the sink/worktop cut out?

Thats bonkers!

How about a cutout in the underside of the work top to reduce the thickness? Take it out with a router, perhaps? Or just drill al the way through so it's just mounting on the sink?

Those sizes probably are about right. Our mixer (not boiling water) has a similar arrangement, has an add on for filtered water.

Those are really odd are you sure you’ve got the correct thread form? Is it an American tap by any chance?

I was just about to say what C said. Cut a big hole in the worktop and clamp to the sink only.

This is an odd setup. All the ones I have seen have flexible pipes leading up through a central opening. What's the make?

What fits onto this end?

I'm still confused. Is the 'top' in the pic below, what connects to the tap and the 'bottom' what connects to the water supply under the counter? With the nut screwed 'up' to clamp it to the underside of the counter-top. Is there no washer? How does the 'top' fix to the tap? Where is the heater, if this is a cold water supply?

It is a pain, the worktop is getting fitted tomorrow morning.

Ideally the sink cutout would get enlarged, but i'm not sure how I will do that before 10am tomorrow.

This is the end which goes into the base of the tap. It is definitely smaller than 1/8" as I have checked that (the main stem is 1/8")

Any ideas how to get a custom one made?

Hmmm, main builder has just told me don't worry, he will sort it.

After days ago he said it was my problem to fix...

So it looks as if there are connectors, that might do the extension job, if you were willing to cut the threaded part...
