kitchen tap pipe issue

That looks like an M8 connection to the tap.

By eye, from the top to the end of the threads looks much more that the 45mm of the sink and worktop. And the builder is saying it needs to be 30-50mm longer? Sounds like issues with units of measurement to me!

they do look plenty long enough to me from that photo

Just be careful only mounting to the sink as the last thing you want is a wobbly kitchen tap. The sink has to be pretty rigid and thick - don’t ask me how I know….

just noticed this seriously off topic thread, about threads. enjoyed the hugh laurie clip. It looks like its just a long bolt to hold the tap in place? The o-ring is just to stop it rotating loose probably. can you not get a bit of threaded rod with the right thread for the underside of the tap and a nut to match? too simple?

They are also the water supply pipes I believe.
