Falkens or Vreds are probably the best compromise between price and performance. Have a look at Goodyear Eagle F1 A2s, a bit more expensive but a much better tyre.

Agree Benny F1's are my preferred choice, running them on the front of the GTS.

Not sure you can get the sizes on the GS 19's

Ian...have I rattled your cage..........??!!

No you haven't Frank. We know that sports tyres don't work in the snow so why ask people if they do? A powerful rear wheel drive car is probably better off in the garage when things turn white outside. Let's face it, most are left parked up when it rains so why mark a tyre down if it doesn't do too well in ice and snow. BTW, a sllck racing tyre wont work very well on an ice racer (without spikes) but I bet they don't get marked down because of it.

I rather like Pirelli Pzero's have used them on loads of cars and found them excellent. So which tyre would compare with that for performance and wear?

Michelin Pilot Super Sports compare very favourably to the PZeros. They are perfect for heavier sports tourers like Masers and bigger BMWs, MBs and Audis.

At least as much, if not more grip, a cleaner breakaway when at the very limit and believe it or not are cheaper and have a long tread wear rating of 300 as compared to the 220 of the PZeros. They certainly outperform the Pirellis in the wet and are almost as good as the Continental Sport Contacts which are an excellent wet weather performance tyre.

They are currently the tyre fitted to the Ferrari 599 GTO from the factory.

Nice recommendation Neil, if you have used them on your Maser, this is the sort of report I am looking for, experience. I think I might give them a whirl.
Cheers

Thanks for that. I had not appreciated the TW was 300 - will look at them when I need all 4 doing.

Treadwear rate number does vary from maker to maker......maybe even on batches of tyres etc....do enquire first

I would have thought that a higher TW rating would mean a harder compound, resulting in slightly less grip all round, if this is not the case I am up for trying them out.

....not sure entirely how the rating affects all the characteristics of tyre.......but you'd need to ask Rob
